Ubique Hotel — Restaurant in West Bengal

This place deserves 0 rating for their services. However, one cannot post without giving atleast one rating. Their rude and arrogant behaviour needs to be mentioned specifically.

We had booked 10 rooms with advanced payment of Rs 10000 for 21st November, 2021 in the month of June, 21 itself. However, they called us in the month of October to tell us that only 5 of their rooms are available and rest are not available. This is a clear fraud on their part. They cannot take an advance against 10 rooms initially and then later renege on part of the rooms. It was a mental harassment for us as we had to rush to book hotel for guests at other locations with premium charges being levied everywhere else due to the lateness of the hour

Now coming to the actual day of service. Our guests had a harrowing experience in the hotels. They arrived late at night and were denied the main entrance. They were taken via some back road along drains and garbage at 2 o clock in the morning. The rooms were tiny and the flush wasn't working properly either. We were not shown any rooms one day earlier upon our repeated requests to show us a room.

Overall it was a very bad experience. The hotel services were pathetic and we had a difficult time. Would never recommend such a service.

Hope this detailed information would help others to decide better against booking rooms in such a pathetic excuse for a hotel.

We have all the proof with us about the booking details. It's clearly mentioned that the booking was for 9 rooms and they took the advance against it and later told us that since the advance charge equals the amount for 5 rooms, they only kept 5 of the rooms and would confirm the remaining 4 after a week ( such harassment at peak marriage season time). This forced our hand to look for alternative options and then later we kept only 5 rooms as we made arrangements elsewhere.

We had a terrible experience with Ubique Hotel. We booked the venue almost a year before my wedding and were initially quoted ₹2,25,000 for the event. At the time of booking, we were assured that flower decorations were included in this price, which seemed reasonable given the high cost.

However, just seven days before the wedding, they suddenly informed us that flower decorations were not included. They then pressured us to work with Ananya Wedding Planner, a vendor they have a tie-up with. This planner quoted us ₹85,000 for the decorations, which was an exorbitant amount. We were completely blindsided, but after some tough negotiations, they reduced the price to ₹64,000. Even this was still too expensive for us, but we had no choice but to agree.

Despite the high charges, the decorations on the wedding day were extremely disappointing. The fabric used was dirty, the flowers were of poor quality, and the overall setup was nowhere near what we had expected. To make matters worse, there were two weddings taking place at Ubique Hotel on the same day, causing complete chaos. The loud music from the other event constantly disrupted our ceremony, adding to our frustration.

In the end, we were charged a total of ₹3,15,000 for the entire event. To top it all off, they didn't even turn on the air conditioning until 7:45 p.m., despite our repeated requests throughout the day.

If there is a provision of giving zero rating I would love to do that. The owner and manager is just too greedy to extract money from customers. They tell something to the customer while booking and when you end up here they will tell you something else. They demand advance money for everything. The behavior is just not acceptable. The owner is aged but his greed for money knows no limit. Just avoid this place. The dining hall is being used as a bar. People are freely having liquor in dining hall. No restrictions at all. Not conducive for family. I am from Air Force posted in Guwahati. When I booked from Guwahati they didn't mention about advance payment. I spoke with both manager and owner-Mr Pinaki Das. They both didn't mention about this rule. Now when I land up here they start asking for advance payment. Nowhere in India I have seen such a regulation, I personally go to so many places and even better hotels than this.They have dance bar operating at the backside where a bar is also operating there. Inspite of that, they serve liquor in dining hall. I think this is also a rule of the hotel !!! Surprising !!!!
