Ambience: 5 stars. Espresso aftermath: a jittery Greek tragedy.
Walked into this café at 12:30 PM and was instantly smitten by the vibe — warm wood tones, soft lighting, and just enough Gen Z aesthetic to make you feel like you’ve wandered into someone’s Instagram reel. This place is a social media backdrop first, a café second — and honestly, I mean that as a compliment.
I ordered two doppios (because I’m a seasoned espresso drinker and usually immune to its caffeinated drama), Parmesan truffle fries, Gochujang chicken, dumplings, and a sandwich. No, I didn’t devour it all — I’m adventurous, not unhinged. Some of it went home in a bag because we were unexpectedly stuffed.
The food? Very good — flavours well-balanced, textures pleasing. The fries were aromatic with truffle and crisp without the dreaded oil-sag. The Gochujang chicken packed a lively kick, dumplings were tender, and the sandwich generous.
But the coffee… oh dear. Halfway through the second doppio, my hands were doing an involuntary jazz performance. I don’t usually get the jitters, but this one was a full-body caffeine earthquake. It took hours for my stomach and nervous system to call a truce.
Verdict: A fantastic hangout for the younger crowd, a photogenic gem with genuinely enjoyable food — but if you’re ordering espresso here, maybe stop by if you want to live life at 2x speed.
Update: I am not sure, but I reckon they use Robusta-heavy, darker roast, maybe overdosed basket. Up to even 20-22gms of beans but it’s less acidic but way more caffeine + harsher alkaloids → no sourness, but instead you get full-on sympathetic overdrive (jitters, restlessness, irritability).
Fun factoid: Robusta can have up to 2.5× the caffeine of Arabica.

I recently had the opportunity to dine at Bask by Coffee in Palavakkam, and I must say it was a fantastic experience. Given the high prices, I was expecting premium quality, and Bask delivered. Here's a breakdown of my experience:
Food Highlights: High Maintenance Salad (₹525): This salad was loaded with beans and was truly fantastic. The flavors and presentation were excellent, and the price was justified by the quality. Goat Cheese Toast (₹400+): This dish was a standout, with a perfect balance of flavors and textures. I'd give it a 5/5 in terms of taste. Strawberry Mousse (₹450): This dessert was lovely, although the quantity was a bit less than I expected. Other Options: Asparagus Roll (Sushi) (₹400+): This dish was okay, but didn't quite live up to the standards of the other dishes. Flat White Coffee: This coffee was strong and good, a perfect way to end the meal. Ambiance and Service: The ambiance was premium and upscale, fitting for a high-end restaurant. The service was excellent, with attentive and knowledgeable staff. Value: The total bill came out to ₹2168, which is steep, but given the high-end experience, it's understandable.
Overall, Bask by Coffee is a great option for those looking for a premium dining experience. The food, ambiance, and service were all excellent, and I'd definitely recommend it to those...
Read moreNever have I enjoyed any visit to a cafe in Chennai as much as in Bask with my family.
It’s not often one gets impressed with everything at the same place, but this spot nailed it all and hats off to the management, kitchen staff, waiters, maintenance staff and valet parking handlers.
First of, the interior and whole decor along with the furnitures, rustic lights and wall fittings for this spot with high ceiling are amazing. Has a nice vibe with seats indoor and outdoor, all done under an old factory shed. Perfect place to linger and unwind.
Was served by Mr bitu and Ms Kristina who are amazing hosts and was so energetic and happy to serve customers with a smile. True gem for Bask!
Lastly, the food, my goodness! All 3 of us shared our plates and it was the same opinion- mind blown! Garlic buttered prawn was amazingly flavourful, good portion and cooked to perfection. Chicken satay had a lovely charred taste and was super tender. The Thai flavour sauce served along with it was so good. All meat pizza was next in line and it knocked us out as well. Great flavour, super meaty and the dough was lite and airy. To finish it off, triple chocolate mousse was the perfect way to end our dinner. So smooth, beautifully plated along with a scoop of ice cream.
This is one such place any gang of friends or couples should go to in Chennai to enjoy a quality time in peace, away from the city and return with a happy...
