Disappointing Experience on Women’s Day

We were excited to celebrate Women’s Day at Macaw, but unfortunately, our experience was far from pleasant. We had booked a table two days in advance, yet upon arrival, we were suddenly informed about an extra cover charge of ₹300 per person to sit near the DJ—something that was never mentioned before. This felt like a hidden charge and a last-minute money grab.

Since we refused to pay for something we weren’t informed about, we were forced to sit away from the DJ, even though there were vacant seats inside. The way the staff and manager treated us was extremely rude and disrespectful, as if we didn’t belong there. On Women’s Day, of all days, we were made to feel unwelcome.

To make matters worse, our vegetarian friend was misled about the food, and they confused veg and non-veg orders, which is completely unacceptable. Then came another shock at the time of billing—they demanded an additional ₹1,500 per person as a cover charge, which was never communicated before. More hidden charges, more disappointment.

We were so frustrated by the treatment that we left by 8 PM, completely disheartened. What was supposed to be a celebration turned into an unpleasant and humiliating experience. Macaw should be ashamed of treating customers, especially women, this way.

The only good part was the food, but no amount of good food can make up for such terrible behavior. I would never recommend this place to anyone, especially if you’re expecting honesty, respect, or a good experience. This was my first time visiting this place and i had so much expectations about going here, but all of it was shattered in the first 10 mins of entering; the reservation desk denied entry stating they didn’t receive any reservations in our name whereas we had called macaw directly and made a reservation for 3 pax at 8 PM; nevertheless we showed the confirmation message we had received and entered the place. After entering, when we asked for a table, the girl allotting tables asked me wait whereas there were many empty tables. When i asked her to assign one of those, she said its reserved for someone who was supposed to come at 8.30 PM; i tried explaining but later realised its a waste of time , so i told her i will take one of the tables outside, for which she said she cant give me a table thats supposed to seat 5 ppl and instead asked me to take a table which didn’t even have chairs. I lost my cool completely and insisted she call the manager, but she said that we had made the reservation late and were creating a scene. She even passed some sarcastic remark and left. Anand who is the floor manager came and tried to sort the situation, but the whole point is that we had come to relax and the entire mood was spoilt with such disgusting and disrespectful behaviour by that one particular staff. I hope you consider this feedback and train the customer facing staff to be a little polite rather than being such a mood spoiler.
