It has been raining from past 2 days and we know what happens in Chennai when it rains. So.decised to have lunch in a place which is not very far away and we have been seeing this place for months now. Hence decided to go to Delhi Highway. I am a non vegetarian hence was pushing it but couldn't find push back today Easy to locate and not sure Valet service is available. There were people standing but refused to park even though insisting there is a kid. So I asked family to go inside. Anyways I managed to park.
The moment I stepped in, the ambience was awesome and dishes people were eating reminded me of Delhi food.street
Menu is simple. Their Thali looked very nice and next visit we decided to have Thali. Ordered Lahoree Kebab. After eating it I did not went to a non vegetarian restaurant. It had right amount of crunch, hot and brilliant when it was served. While we deciding main course, Manas and Mayank served more kebabs for tasting and said it's on the house. Where do we such PPL. I have to call out Manas Sahu who was always close to our table and attended us very well. Main course we ordered Rumali roti and lacha paratha with Aloo Gobi and black dhal.
I have never tasted the Black Dhaal and Aloo Gobi. Wifey and daughter completely excited. Daughter insisted to come back for Dinner.
I always start with dessert. The Shahi Tukra was piping hot and was melting in the mouth. I mean this is exactly everyone expects especially when it is raining so hard.
Wonderful experience and would be coming back soon. Anyone from senior management who is reading this review, I would recommend some kind of reward and recognition for both of them.
Visited the place again yesterday night for Dinner. We were at least 20KMs away from restaurant and my daughter was very hungry. We had 2 options, stop in a kiosk and pick up fries and burger. But at the same time were not convinced. I thought let me call Delhi Highway because my visit last time, they treated us very well. Nobody in the car including me, will take a booking and preparing food and keep it ready when we arrive. Just took a risk and called. Saroj picked up the phone and last time my interaction was with Manas and Mayank. Took a chance and asked Saroj to take the order and we will be reaching in 15 to 20mins and also block a table for 3. To my surprise, he immediately said yes we will do it. I couldn't believe so asked my wife to call again and she was told your husband just called and we will tkcr madam. We reach the place, table for 3 was ready. By the time we sanitize and remove the masks, started arrived. As usual I start with a sweet dish so shahi tukra also arrived. I was pretty impressed as they don't have to do this especially on Sunday night when there are people waiting for seats. This shows their humble nature and passion towards customer obsession.
In fact, they served pani puri as compliment but all 3 of us were avoiding to have anything cold or little tangy during the night. So I returned and Saroj had no complaints.
My zomato pro and dine in app payments were not working. They were okay to give 20% discount on the bill as the apps were not working. I had already asked too many things and reducing the bill is not something I was comfortable. But appreciate the intention to create the impact on customer.
You know what, my 9yr old daughter was shocked to see the food arriving so fast. On the way back home, she said Daddy- please write a nice review for this place. They were so nice to me also. Kids dont lie and that's the reason for this additional review and changing my parking score from 4 to 5.
Taste 5/5 Ambience...
Read moreDelhi Highway's nungambakkam outlet had always been on my wish list but due to some reason or the other i was just not able to make it unless i got a chance to try out their comparatively new outlet in Shollinganallur located inside Citadines... Was here with a couple of friends for lunch...
The restaurant is located on the ground floor along with Hola and has some exclusive parking so there are no issues here..
The Restaurant is really cool to look at with royal north indian finish...Seating is limited to 40-50 ppl max and the seating is spacious and really comfortable...The restaurant has some well lit interiors thanks to the full glass wall on almost 2 sides.. The vibrant dome type wall carving are the ones that give a royal touch to the place..
The service is polite and really friendly...The servers were constantly on the move and always asking about our needs and orders and the person who served us Mr.Sunil was such a gem and always had his smiling face on..
Given below is the items we ordered and my take on them...
Maharaja Thali : This was one of a kind thali which is more like a sit down buffet.. Includes a welcome drink, 3 chaats, 7 starters, 4 main course, 2 types of bread, rice ,2 desserts and lassi... Usually in these types of thali/buffet we find the starters and chaat items are not that great but the ones served with this were really good..be it the dahi papdi chat or the sev poori...The starters were too good too.. The main course/gravies were pretty decent and so were the rice varieties but the naans were too good...
Sizzling Platter : This one is basic tandoori platter with a bit of a sizzle.. Had three types of paneer tikkas, veg sheek kebab, Mushrooms and potatoes.. Pretty good stuff...
Naram Dil Kebab : This one is one of the best veg starters i have had in recent times...Mashed panner/paneer bhurji coated with a crispy layer and deep fried...one bite seemed like pure foodgasm... Too good and a must try here...
Chaat : Panni poori is served like shots and taste wise was pretty decent..The Dahi Papdi chaat was too good though thanks to the fresh and creamy curd topped with red and green chutneys..Sev poori was Papad topped with yummy potatos and sev and sprinkled with garam masala and stuff..
Tandoori Baby Kulchas : Bite Sized Khulchas that were stuffed with mozzarella cheese and kalongi.. went well with the chimichuri...
Methi Malai Mutter : Green Peas in a creamy gravy loaded with methi..Looked too green but was also good in taste.. Mutter was in abundance and hence was filling..
Punjabi Kadi : Didnt seem like a usual kadi as the curdy effect was missing...had some delicate onion pakodas in a slightly spicy gravy..
Shahi Tukda : One of the best i have had in chennai...Soft and Moist Bread slices soaked in abundance of sweet sugar syrup and topped with some rich and saffron flavored rabdi.. The Rabdi as such was loaded with nuts...
Delhi Highway has definitely impressed me big time...The starters and Chaat items were too good and so were the desserts.. The main course and rice items were pretty decent.. The Good service and a good ambiance is an added advantage.. For the pricing which is slightly on the higher side this place is completely worth a try for veggies.. Totally...
