I visited this place straight for one whole week when I was staying in Vivanta. My god, I'm really impressed by the quality and consistency of the food they serve and fell in love with every dish.
Located on the OMR next to Accenture, this place is a bit hard to discover due to a lot of other brandings around. But, the crowd during the evening and peak hours will surely get your attention.
It's a self service restaurant with very few sitting options. But there are more tables for stand-eat and generally most of the people prefer stand-eat options in such restaurants. The kitchen and serving area is huge and segregated well between beverage, snacks & tiffin counters. Beverages like Coffee, tea, Juices & milk are served at the beverages counter. Bun & Sandwiches are served at the snacks counter & all the major tiffin items like dosa, idli, rice, etc will be served at the tiffin section. The hygiene factor is well maintained in both the kitchen section and dining area. They have a small wash basin outside and the billing counter is located on a corner near the beverage counter.
The service is really impressive. Managing such a huge crowd could be a task but these guys are professionals and handle the customers well (most of the time). They have a token system to assign priority on a first come first serve basis. You need not submit your bill at any counter, they call your token number by the token numbers generated at their particular counter. However, for the beverage counter you need to go and request for the order. Every staff member seems to be well trained and performs their responsibility very well. Even the cleaning staff works spontaneously to keep the tables clean as soon as a customer leaves. Hats off to the management.
I tried their speciality dishes like Ghee Khaaram Masala Dose, Ghee Masala Dose, Open Benne Masale, Rava Dose, Ven Pongal, Masal Vada, Medu Vada, Ghee Button idli, etc. and the beverages like filter coffee, rose milk, badam milk & mint cooler. I loved every dish they served. The texture of Dosas is lovely and it tasted so good. Other dishes were also equally good. Rose milk is another USP of this place and I loved it. The quality of the food feels top notch and the quantity they provide feels adequate for the price. Their ghee sambar is something I drool over in my dreams.
They accept all kinds of digital payments including cards & UPI payments. It is suggested to make up your mind about what to order before entering the billing counter to allow less waiting time for the others.
I highly recommend this place since it feels like home and because of the great...
Read moreTiffin Sharshra is known for serving some good South Indian dishes, and their dosa definitely stands out. It’s crispy, flavorful, and pairs well with the chutneys and sambhar provided. However, there are a few significant drawbacks that overshadow the positives.
One of the dishes I tried was the Pongal, which had a nice, authentic flavor. The texture was smooth, and it was well-cooked, but the amount of ghee used was excessive. While ghee is essential for enhancing the taste of Pongal, the overwhelming amount made it feel too rich and greasy, which could be off-putting for some customers.
Another issue is the portion sizes—they are quite small and not sufficient for a proper meal, especially considering the price. For those with a bigger appetite or looking for a more filling experience, this can be disappointing.
Additionally, the lack of a proper seating area is a major inconvenience. There’s no space to sit and enjoy your meal, making it more of a grab-and-go spot. While this might work for takeaway, it’s far from ideal for customers who want a comfortable dining experience.
In summary, while the dosa and Pongal have good flavors, the excessive ghee, small portions, and absence of seating take away from the overall experience. If they could address these issues, Tiffin Sharshra could become a much better dining option. For now, it’s a decent place for a quick takeaway, but it leaves a lot to be desired for those seeking a satisfying and...
Read moreTiffin Shastra has instantly clicked in this region showing how much people in this area are craving quality South Indian cuisine like Dosas, Pongal, idlis and vadas. This is a Karnataka style restaurant which serves food in use and throw plates with a banana leaf to add that extra South Indian touch. Excellent benne dosas, button idlis and vadas. Vada pav was pretty good as well, compared to what you usually get here. Menu is quite interesting, would love to try their bun butter jam someday because it looks mouth watering. Both tea and coffee were excellent and they give you the option of brown or white sugar.
One major noteworthy issue is the crowd management here, it would be so much better if there were separate parcel and dine in ques. We had to wait nearly an hour to get 3 dosas parcelled. They have a token system going on now but I don't think it's working. I wish the same restaurant was a place where people could actually sit and eat because currently it's situated in a parking spot and it's only causing a huge headache for everyone. Would advise people to come early in mornings for breakfast or an early evening around 5 PM because anytime later is going to be an issue for sure. Hopefully they take this into consideration and take better steps to manage the crowd. It would be a shame if this continues because this is a super high...
