Saravana Bhavan - George Town — Restaurant in Zone 5 Royapuram

Our first visit here was for dinner around 8 PM. We chose this spot as the restaurant name is familiar in vegetarian circles. ​The Good: The location is prime, and the pricing is quite reasonable for the area. The restaurant is air-conditioned, and there were plenty of tables available. ​The Not-So-Good: Service felt disorganized. After ordering dosa, poori, podi dosa, chapathi, and watermelon juice, the wait was lengthy. It appeared the single waiter was taking orders, conveying them to the kitchen, and then running the food, which slowed things down significantly. We also noticed some staff members seemed uninterested or preoccupied, grouping together to talk and then dispersing when customers approached. ​Food & Amenities: We were disappointed with the taste, especially since we've enjoyed this brand in other locations (like Salem). The Coconut Chutney was particularly bad; it tasted old and stale. Shockingly, the restaurant was out of basic items like bottled water and straws for fresh juice. ​Parking: Finding parking is a major challenge; it's a 0% chance for cars due to the location diagonally opposite the High Court. ​Overall, the food and service fell short of expectations. Today we were buying a few things near the flower bazar/ parrys and went here for early dinner around 7 pm. Since it is a weekend, we got a table with ease. Actually, the restaurant is mostly empty.

Ambience and seating is okay. Since we went early (6:50 pm), many items on the menu were NOT available. We ordered Podi Onion 🧅 dosai, chapati, mini tiffin, idiyappam and rava dosa. Food ordered was served in reasonable time.

Taste wise everything is good except for chapati which is not great. The sambar and 3 chutneys accompanied dosai varieties were good. Even Kurma and Kadala curry accompanied by Chapati and idiyappam were excellent. However coconut 🥥 milk accompanied idiyappam was average.

Service was excellent. They were attentive throughout. The price is reasonable considering the taste. Overall...

Which is located in first floor, stairs and Lift 🛗 both are available

Interior design was good and the ambience was nice and pleasant one

We've ordered Pongal , dosa , idly ,masal dosa etc all foods are good

Waiting time was high 😔

And the food taste and quality was good , but Quantity is too low for this price segment they have to improve that
