Novelty was so much popular in Sowcarpet. Then one location in Mylapore, both these were shutdown and the latest one is bloomed in Shenoy Nagar. Know for their tasty chaat and North Indian dishes especially variety in Jain preparation. It has a very steady and strong support. It was a special occasion, bday of my niece and brother, we assembled here. Knowing about the crowd here, we came in early evening at 6.45 pm.( For dinner) We're quickly seated in by a cheerful pretty girl ( a pleasant surprise). Things are looking good! Within few minutes I started feeling hot, as the high ceiling was the culprit! My niece had been here earlier so started recommending the favourites. I ordered a split Tomato soup, cheese balls, palak roll. Chilly paneer, Pav bhaji, pani poori starters. Soup was served hot with extra bowl of croutons! The other starters were nice and hot. The hyped up Pav Bhaji was a damp squid! The Pav is frugal in size, and the Bhaji seemed to be on a slimming diet! Just a dash of butter floating around. For the price it should be bit more convincing. Kaju masala curry, rotis, garlic naan and Dum Aloo were brought in next. The gravies were well done. The breads as well. The mint chutney was thick and tasty. Halfway through I felt my dress slightly drenched! Yes the hall became full and the AC betrayed. I kept looking at the high ceiling and wondered the interior designers intention. There's a enclosed dining room too with a lower ceiling, for some party bookings. We quickly finished dinner with some coffee and iced tea ( ice tea seems to be instant mix). The place was getting very crowded with lots people waiting outside. Overall, I felt bit uncomfortable here, I know about Chennai heat, but this was dinner. Food was served hot but really Pav bhaji nothing tingling about it. And yes the Paani poori wasn't worth writing about! Pani was nice, poori was not crispy! No crunch! Chennai crowds can be very unforgiving.

Hi this place Apoorva’s Novelty in Shenoy Nagar, Previously Novelty Tea house in sowcarpet, Visited this restaurant for the first time today. Got to say it’s a good vegetarian restaurant situated very close to Shenoy Nagar metro station. Food: They have a variety of dishes in different cuisines from North Indian, South Indian to Chinese. I came here for dinner and ordered the Soup, papad, Pavbhaji, bhelpuri, Pizza, Sandwhich, Falooda, Rasmalai, roti, panner butter masala, ,Every dish tasted so good and the desi style pizza was the best tasting dish for me, personally. Sweet corn soup was very bad, No taste at all, rasmalai was a disappointment for me, Service: The service by Mr. Subhash.K and team was exceptional. Ambience: The ambience was good. Parking: There is no dedicated parking space near the restaurant. But you can park your vehicle on the sides of the street in front of the restaurant. The restaurant provides valet parking too. Washroom: Well maintained with separate restrooms for men and women. Overall, this is a great place for trying a variety of vegetarian options with a good ambience and great vibes. Perfect place for vegetarians & Jain food Can be tried once Prior Call reservations are also accepted.

Food: They have a variety of dishes in different cuisines from North Indian, South Indian to Chinese. I came here for dinner and ordered the Cheese corn balls, aloo paratha and strawberry milkshake. Every dish tasted so good and the cheese corn balls was the best tasting dish for me, personally. Service: The service by Mr. Bhagirath and team was exceptional. Ambience: The ambience was good but the seating felt a bit cramped for a table of 2-3. Parking: There is no dedicated parking space near the restaurant. But you can park your vehicle on the sides of the street in front of the restaurant. I’m not sure if the restaurant provides valet parking. Washroom: Well maintained with separate restrooms for men and women. Pricing: Wouldn’t say that this is a very budget friendly place but for the quality of the food and ambience, I felt like it was worth it. Overall, this is a great place for trying a variety of vegetarian options with a good ambience and great vibes.
