I have been on a croissant frenzy for the search of the best (traditionally tasting, on par with Paris ~ give and take) plain croissant in Canggu area. I usually try at least twice and around 8-11am to be as fair as possible.
Out of 8 well known bakeries, Bread Basket is in the top three. Not no.1 but my personal favorite due to preferences. I must have had their croissant 4-5 times in the past month. All consistently delicious. I read some old reviews and it seems like their croissant/ pain au chocolate looks different overtime. This is for the month of December.
The coffee in the first picture is not from them. The second picture is my half eaten croissant hours passed and squashed. Still perfect.
I love that all 4-5 times, the croissants were irregular in shapes. No two were the same size and not commercially perfect. They are buttery in flavor, perfect crisp, light, chewy and moist. Reason they are my personal favorite amongst the top 3 is that they are âchewierâ than others. The croissant reminded me of this bakery in Paris with the same chewiness.
If you tried it yourself and think that they are not THAT good, trust me there are a lot of bad croissants here in Canggu lol
Their bread deserves a shoutout too. I have tried their light Rye and multigrain, both delicious. They slice it fresh for you. I once saw a lady came in and brought all baguettes they had and left.
Bread basket is just overall a very decent and reliable bakery for baked foods.
I canât comment on anything else since I have only taken them to go and donât have the intention to dine in. The vibe is always a little offâŚ..Aesthetically, not really my cup of tea. I donât know if I trust...
Read moreWe came twice for breakfast and absolutely loved it!
Beautiful store with an excellent implemented concept. Large comfortable seating options inside and outside (not too loud and busy since itâs located in a side street)
We tried the âRustic Avocadoâ , âHappy Holandaiseâ and the âProsciutto & Egg Sandwichâ along with plain, almond and chocolate croissants. The dishes were all made fresh, eggs cooked on the spot and the croissants were absolute world class. Even warmed them up before serving. Great coffee served in heated cups. Prices very very fair to the the quality and amount of food.
On both occasions we were served by Melci, who appeared to be a trainee at this time. We hope she gets hired, cause she absolutely adds value with her customer service to this place. Outstanding service. Very friendly and calm, gave us enough time to understand and browse the menu not being intrusive at all, but immediately there when ready to order.
Overall well deserved 5 stars for this place. Canât wait to check out the...
Read moreAfter visiting Bread Basket Bakery in Canggu, I must say that my experience was fairly underwhelming. While the interiors are a bit unique, with some interesting design elements, the overall experience didn't quite live up to my expectations.
I found that the food and drinks were nothing special - the flavors were lackluster and unmemorable. The service was also just average, nothing to write home about. I was hoping for something a bit more exciting from a bakery that markets itself as unique, but unfortunately, it fell short.
That being said, if you're looking for a spot to snap some photos for the 'gram, the interiors at Bread Basket Bakery may be worth a quick visit. But I wouldn't recommend dining here, as there are plenty of other great restaurants and cafes in the Canggu area that offer much more interesting and satisfying food.
All in all, Bread Basket Bakery in Canggu may be worth a visit for the interiors, but I wouldn't recommend staying for the...
