This place is simply amazing ! The Patisserie and bakery showcase absolute works of art . After visiting the Permata Bank opposite I decided to venture in to check out the coffee and cakes . From the moment you walk in everything is professional .... and there is a very good reason for this which I'll outline later . The staff are very well trained . Their uniforms are funky and the interior is spotless . The walk in area is air conditioned and tables are spaced comfortably far enough away from each other ensuring the place doesn't look crammed . There is an outside dining area with water features which looks equally appealing . The kitchen preparation area is separated only by glass so you can see the chefs preparing everything . The lunch and dinner menu reads very well and I will certainly be returning . Why does everything look so professional ??? Because as I learned Chef Stephane hails from Alila Ulawatu . ... say no more . I ordered from the bakery but was also tempted by the most amazing looking pastries . A coffee banhoff ? And another masterpiece whose name I forget but the chocolate sesame brittle that accompanied was brilliant . The packaging was exquisite . Stephane even quietly ask his staff to slip a number of complimentary bakery items into my purchase . The coffee was also good . For sure I'm going to try their dinner menu. The prices were very reasonable given the quality of the product . I shared the tarts with friends ( reluctantly) and they remarked the pastry was the best they had ever tasted . Merci beaucoup and bon...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Folie that left me thoroughly impressed with their culinary offerings. From the moment I walked through the door, I knew I was in for a treat. The restaurant's cozy ambiance and attentive staff set the stage for a delightful dining experience.
One dish that truly stole the show was their Beef Wellington. The perfectly cooked beef tenderloin, enveloped in a flaky pastry crust, was a masterpiece. Each bite revealed a succulent and flavorful combination of beef, mushrooms, and herbs. The dish was expertly executed, showcasing the chef's skill and attention to detail. If you're a fan of classic comfort food with a touch of elegance, this Beef Wellington is a must-try.
Moving on to the pasta, I was equally impressed. The restaurant offered a variety of pasta dishes, and I opted for their signature pasta with a rich tomato-based sauce. The pasta was cooked to al dente perfection, and the sauce had a delightful balance of flavors. It was evident that the chef used high-quality ingredients and took pride in creating a memorable pasta dish. Whether you're a pasta aficionado or simply appreciate a well-executed Italian classic, you won't be disappointed.
Lastly, the Onion Soup was a revelation. Served piping hot with a golden layer of melted cheese on top. The soup had a robust and savory flavor, with the sweetness of caramelized onions shining through. Each spoonful was a warm and comforting delight that left me...
Read moreHad a Bday dinner here tonight and was very disappointed, I feel like giving 1 star but to be honest it's not a 1 star restaurant, it's just a restaurant that will slowly close down because the value for money just is not there, the portion size for main meals does not match the price they're charging, yes it taste nice but nothing so much that makes you say, OMG I'm coming back again! I'd never go back to this restaurant it's just not rememberable enough. All 8 of us had the same feeling afterwards.
Here are some of the. Major negatives of the night. And we were the only table for most of the night....
Meals being forgotten and meals just coming out at random intervals to different people at the table,
Food being bought to the table that wasn't ordered
Portion size of a side order of grilled asparagus is only 2 sticks of small asparagus
The main meals are not value for their prices,
the main meat meals don't come with anything, just the meat, the additional side orders are not mentioned on the menu.
The chocolate fondant dessert was bitter and had burned bitter taste coming through which was rather dominant,
The strawberry dessert was made with cheap local strawberries which were not ripe and extremely sour and the tart was over...
