Layana Warung — Restaurant in Bali

Have dined here since it opened but have not been for quite a while. The view is stunning, and music is always nice, relaxing and not too loud. BUT.... really poor experience this time. Slow service. Food not hot. Asked for large beer and two cold glasses, glasses were not chilled. We asked again for cold glasses. The staff returned 10 minutes later with two glasses that had clearly been wet and put in the fridge. They were not cold and by this time our beer was not cold and was flat. 1male staff member was seen exiting the toilet and did not wash hands. Had to ask for our table to be cleaned. Waitresses dragging their feet, sound of sloppy sandals everytime they walked. Two of us ordered. 1 meal eventually arrived, a poor salad, fries not hot. Then we waited at least 10 minutes for the second meal to arrive. The crispy chicken looked like a shrivelled up piece of I dont know what. Almost unedible. We gave the Manager some kind and constructive feedback which he appeared to be grateful for. We weren't going to put a review up because of this, but he proceeded to offer a 10 % discount for a dreadful food and dining experience which was insulting. AND THEN we were asked to pay for parking for eating at a resto that we paid to eat at !!!! Standards have dropped big time and we feel very disappointed....

Decent food at a decent price. Nice view. I've been multiple times for the chicken steak which is absolutely delicious, don't know about much else on the menu. My sister got a chicken wrap and it wasn't very good. The same day we had trouble finding a seat as we were told many of them were "reserved". As it turns out there was a group of well-off Indonesian ladies there and we're being treated as royalty. The seats that were "reserved" we weren't allowed to sit there just in case the ladies wanted to move seats. They eventually did want to move seats, to the seat me and my sister were sitting at! They literally asked us to move to a different seat just so these entitled ladies could sit wherever they please. I was not very pleased. I did not think they were any more important than me but the restaurant didn't think the same as me. I'm sure they were important to the restaurant in some way but that's no way to treat another customer. I was very upset we were asked to move seats when the ladies already had a seat. They literally just wanted a different seat just because. Still a...

I love this Warung! The best part is the incredible view and atmosphere, right near Goa Gajah Temple. I was doing some stuff on my laptop, so I basically hung out here for about 6 hours writing against the backdrop of the waterfall and the cliff. At one point, monkeys were swimming in the pools. You can also walk down below to near the waterfall.

And, as gorgeous as it was, the food was just as good. I got Ikan Mujair Bakar for 35k, and it was a full, delicately grilled fish with a fragrant tomato sauce, plated alongside two kinds of sambal and urap urap greens. There was also some rice. I also got the standout Mango Basil Smash, a drink which I will definitely have to get again. Like I said, I was there for 6 hours, so I later even got the Yin Yang Mango, which was very creamy and lovely, but the Mango Basil Smash won the liquid battle.

The service was also fantastic and the staff were very kind. I appreciated their service. In addition, it was an added bonus that where I sat overlooking the waterfall outside had a plug! Beautiful...
