If you’re in Kintamani and in the mood for some killer thai eats, you have to check out Luna Moon. Seriously, their chicken eggplant is a game-changer. I’m talking best-ever level and they were able to make it gluten free. 🤯 We stopped by after a grueling hike up Mt. Batur and went straight for the taro sago – so refreshing and just what we needed.
Now, let's talk lemongrass chicken. Holy moly, the seasoning was on point; it didn’t even need sauce (and trust me, I’m usually a sauce kinda person). The char on it? Chef’s kiss! Again this was also able to be made gluten free.
I also couldn’t resist trying the fried chicken skins. So crunchy and those dipping sauces? Perfectly balanced – not too sweet, not too spicy. Just right. This was just for me since it's basically 99% breading and therefore not gluten friendly for my wife. And then there were the fried beef ribs I ordered... oh man, phenomenal doesn’t even begin to cover it.
Big shoutout to our server Santika, who went above and beyond to make sure everything was gluten-free for us. Super attentive and just all-around awesome service, and a nice person to chat to. We would come back just for another conversation with her.
So yeah, Luna Moon is definitely hitting all the right notes! A restaurant out...

I recently visited Lunamoon Cafe & Thai Kitchen in Kintamani, and it was an unforgettable experience. Nestled at Penelokan, the cafe offers stunning panoramic views of Mount and Lake Batur — perfect for sunrise or a calm lunch break .
The Thai-inspired menu impressed me with dishes like Tom Yum, Pad Thai, Bangkok wings, and Mango Sticky Rice — all bursting with flavor and authenticity . Prices are quite reasonable, starting around IDR 30‑45K for mains and drinks ().
The space is elegant and Instagram-worthy, with indoor, semi-outdoor, and outdoor seating — plus cozy fire pits, meeting rooms, playground for kids, and well-maintained facilities like clean restrooms, prayer room, Wi‑Fi, and power outlets .
Service was warm and attentive, and the overall atmosphere felt serene yet vibrant. My only tip: bring some insect repellent — being close to nature, a few flies may show up .
I highly recommend Lunamoon for those seeking a scenic, flavorful, and comfortable Thai dining experience in Kintamani. Can’t wait to go back!

Read moreWent to Lunamoon tonight and had the most wonderful experience! This brand new semi-open aired restaurant has a stunning unobstructed view of Mt Batur and carries a well-considered aesthetic - it is huge, upstairs and downstairs. There’s even a playground for kids, fireplaces built into some tables and other sized settings to suit the vibe you’re after. The staff are absolutely wonderful, checking in with every dish and making sure we were taken care of. I ordered the house spring rolls, pad see ew and Thai pudding. The Thai pudding was mouth watering and by far my favourite, so many textures, flavours and is enough to share between 2 people. The spring rolls had a unique filling with the perfect cronch, so YOM - cannot describe how good these were. The pad see ew was good but I do prefer the sauce a little richer although I still finished everything on my plate with ease! All three dishes plus a Coke Zero only came to 195k. Every time I come to Kintamani, you’ll find me...
