Okuzono is an ABSOLUTE STANDOUT among Japanese restaurants in Bali. From the moment we arrive, the FRIENDLY and QUICK SERVICES sets the tone for a memorable dining experience. One of the rare perks here is the ample parking space—a true luxury in Bali, where finding a spot can often be a challenge.
The INTERIOR is a STUNNING FUSION of traditional and contemporary Japanese design. Every detail, from the wooden textures to the subtle lighting, creates an atmosphere that is both elegant and serene. It's clear that great care has gone into every inch of the decor, making the space not just a place to eat, but an experience in itself.
Now for the food—every dish is a masterpiece. We ordered:
Aburi Salmon Chili Mayo is, without exaggeration, THE BEST SUSHI I’ve ever had. It literally melts in your mouth, with just the right balance of heat and creaminess.
Mori Sashimi is beautifully presented and incredibly fresh—each slice bursting with FRESH, DELICATE FLAVOR.
Hoba-Yaki Salmon is a rich, smoky delight. Wrapped in AROMATIC MAGNOLIA LEAVES, the flavors are deepened by a perfectly paired sauce—a flawless combination.
Chicken Karaage with Ponzu Sauce is CRISPY on the outside, with juicy, tender meat inside. A comforting yet elevated dish. Ponzu sauce is such a PERFECT COMBINATION.
Chicken Tsukune Hot Pot is a REFRESHING and soothing bowl, with chicken, tofu, mochi, and radish mingling in perfect harmony.
And don’t skip dessert—the Caramel Pudding offers a unique twist with the subtle hint of OCHA. It’s a completely NEW and DELIGHTFUL way to ENJOY Japanese pudding.
I regret not taking pictures of all the food because I was enjoying it too much. But trust me, EVERY BITE was DELICIOUS. I honestly can’t wait to return, and will be making this a regular stop every time I’m in Bali. Okuzono is a perfect blend of flavor, ambiance, and...
Read moreA group of us wanted to try something special so we dropped into Okuzono for dinner. Kid friendly and upon walking in, you get the irasshaimase! greeting and I was amazed by the interior grandeur of the place. There is a circular food prep station close to the entrance which wets your appetite on what is to come. Decor is modern Japanese and the place is not shy of the number of wait staff. In the centre of the restaurant is a Japanese sand garden which is great for taking photos and you will be amazed by the number of levels you can dine at (I think I counted 3 or maybe 4). Staff service is attentive and helpful. Toilet facilities is probably one of the best I have seen (I wanted to just stay in there haha). The high ceilings and decorative artwork above resembled the Japanese sand garden and the lamps scattered about the place gave a real warming effect.
Food wise, affordable but there are a number of items which are expensive such as the Wagyu selections and wine. Plating for me is very pretty (at times fusion). The use of various serving plates makes the dining experience interesting. Taste wise though wasn't the best. Looked better than they tasted but still better than most Japanese places I have been to. Best dish for me was the Wagyu, pink in the middle with a good char. The Otsumami platter was average (we got two). Overall though it was a nice experience even if you just go to get a feel of the interior of...
Read moreOkuzono Japanese Restaurant in Bali distinguishes itself not only with its serene ambiance and authentic flavors but also through its exceptional cooking methods, notably the salt-roasted Japanese coal grilling. This unique technique infuses each dish with a subtle smokiness that enhances the natural flavors of the ingredients without overpowering them.
The impact of this method is particularly noticeable in dishes like their grilled meats and vegetables, which showcase a perfect char and a tantalizing texture that is hard to achieve through other cooking methods. The salt-roasting aspect helps in locking in the juices, ensuring that every bite is succulent and flavorful.
The overall dining experience at Okuzono is further elevated by the excellent service, especially from Dana, a waiter whose attentiveness and professionalism make each visit memorable. He expertly navigates the menu to suggest dishes that complement the Japanese coal grilling, enhancing the dining experience with his insights and recommendations.
