Breathtaking Views but Disappointing Dining â A Mixed Experience at The Amora Bali
We recently visited The Amora Bali in Kintamani, and our experience left us with very mixed feelings. If youâre heading to this location purely for the view, it absolutely deliversâ100 out of 100. The restaurant and cafĂŠ are situated on a stunning ridge overlooking Mount Batur and Lake Batur, and itâs without a doubt one of the best panoramic spots you can find in Bali. The atmosphere is serene, the mountain breeze refreshing, and the visualsâunbeatable. For scenery alone, The Amora Bali is worth the stop.
The customer service was also quite good. We were welcomed politely, staff were attentive and friendly, and they checked in during our meal. Itâs clear they are trying to offer a great guest experience and that goes a long way in hospitality.
Unfortunately, everything else outside of the view and service was a big letdown, especially the food.
We were really looking forward to a hearty breakfast with a view, but what we got was cold, dry, and tasteless food. Even basic dishes were disappointing. The egg wrap we tried was flavorless and rubbery, and the eggs themselves were bland and poorly cooked. With such a beautiful location, the food should match the settingâbut it fell completely flat. It felt like the dishes had been prepared well in advance and left out, resulting in cold and unappetizing plates.
While most of the food didnât leave a good impression, there was one standoutâa Balinese sweet we tried (unfortunately we didnât catch the name). It had a soft texture and a mildly sweet flavor that felt authentic and comforting. That dish was the only redeeming item on the menu and is worth trying if you do end up dining there.
The ambience of the restaurant itself is casual and relaxed, and itâs built to maximize the breathtaking views with open seating and wide glass windows. Itâs a great place for a coffee or juice stop if youâre passing through the Kintamani region, especially if youâre coming from Ubud or heading to Mount Batur. But if youâre expecting a satisfying meal to match the locationâyou might leave disappointed, as we did.
We do hope the management pays more attention to the food quality and preparation. Even with the simplest dishes, freshness and flavor are important. With such a prime location, thereâs an opportunity for The Amora Bali to become an iconic destination for both views and cuisine. Sadly, based on our visit, the kitchen doesnât currently meet that standard.
Final thoughts: ⢠Come for the viewâitâs unmatched and truly mesmerizing. ⢠Appreciate the friendly and warm service. ⢠Try the Balinese dessert (if available). ⢠Donât set high expectations for the food. ⢠Consider stopping by for coffee or drinks rather than a full meal.
Overall, The Amora Bali is a case of spectacular location, but underwhelming food. Itâs a must-visit for the view, but not necessarily for the dining experience. If youâre in the area, itâs worth stopping by just to take in the natural beautyâbut maybe eat somewhere else before or...

   Read moreDO NOT EAT HERE.
My partner and I were brought for lunch here by our driver during a day trip. After 6 days in Bali we had nothing but great experiences with food but this restaurant tarnished that record.
I'll start with the positives, the view is fantastic and the staff were nice and friendly, the food itself tasted reasonably nice.
However it was not worth the money (nearly ÂŁ15 per person when taking into account the charge to park up here) with a ridiculous 13% service charge. Ate at a couple brilliant restaurants in Bali and 5%-10% is more usual. We felt a little robbed to be honest. The view was good but we come from Scotland so to us it wasn't that special, not worth that money.
Now on to the food, it was cold... Really cold. My partner went to the toilet and noticed trays of food sitting out downstairs with no guests eating there. Goodness knows how long it sits. My partner ate one plate and opted to avoid anymore, I had two which was a big mistake. Both of us have had stomach cramps and unpleasant symptoms of food poisoning for 24-48 hours afterwards. There were also quite a number of flies around our tables and the food was uncovered. No doubt flies find their way on to the food.
Please don't eat here if the food is still uncovered and cold...we count ourselves lucky not to have had our holiday ruined but others may not be so lucky.
On the plus side, we haven't eaten much for 2 days so saved some money there! One benefit of food...
