Breathtaking Views but Disappointing Dining – A Mixed Experience at The Amora Bali

We recently visited The Amora Bali in Kintamani, and our experience left us with very mixed feelings. If you’re heading to this location purely for the view, it absolutely delivers—100 out of 100. The restaurant and café are situated on a stunning ridge overlooking Mount Batur and Lake Batur, and it’s without a doubt one of the best panoramic spots you can find in Bali. The atmosphere is serene, the mountain breeze refreshing, and the visuals—unbeatable. For scenery alone, The Amora Bali is worth the stop.

The customer service was also quite good. We were welcomed politely, staff were attentive and friendly, and they checked in during our meal. It’s clear they are trying to offer a great guest experience and that goes a long way in hospitality.

Unfortunately, everything else outside of the view and service was a big letdown, especially the food.

We were really looking forward to a hearty breakfast with a view, but what we got was cold, dry, and tasteless food. Even basic dishes were disappointing. The egg wrap we tried was flavorless and rubbery, and the eggs themselves were bland and poorly cooked. With such a beautiful location, the food should match the setting—but it fell completely flat. It felt like the dishes had been prepared well in advance and left out, resulting in cold and unappetizing plates.

While most of the food didn’t leave a good impression, there was one standout—a Balinese sweet we tried (unfortunately we didn’t catch the name). It had a soft texture and a mildly sweet flavor that felt authentic and comforting. That dish was the only redeeming item on the menu and is worth trying if you do end up dining there.

The ambience of the restaurant itself is casual and relaxed, and it’s built to maximize the breathtaking views with open seating and wide glass windows. It’s a great place for a coffee or juice stop if you’re passing through the Kintamani region, especially if you’re coming from Ubud or heading to Mount Batur. But if you’re expecting a satisfying meal to match the location—you might leave disappointed, as we did.

We do hope the management pays more attention to the food quality and preparation. Even with the simplest dishes, freshness and flavor are important. With such a prime location, there’s an opportunity for The Amora Bali to become an iconic destination for both views and cuisine. Sadly, based on our visit, the kitchen doesn’t currently meet that standard.

Final thoughts: • Come for the view—it’s unmatched and truly mesmerizing. • Appreciate the friendly and warm service. • Try the Balinese dessert (if available). • Don’t set high expectations for the food. • Consider stopping by for coffee or drinks rather than a full meal.

Overall, The Amora Bali is a case of spectacular location, but underwhelming food. It’s a must-visit for the view, but not necessarily for the dining experience. If you’re in the area, it’s worth stopping by just to take in the natural beauty—but maybe eat somewhere else before or...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Breakfast with a Volcano — Pure Magic!

I absolutely loved the Volcano Breakfast at The Amora Bali Kintamani! Arriving early in the morning meant crisp air and crystal-clear views of Mount Batur and Lake Batur — a dramatically beautiful backdrop for a meal .

🌋 Scenic Setting & Atmosphere The terrace is perfectly positioned to capture the volcanic and lake panorama. Watching steam rise from the volcano while enjoying breakfast made the experience feel like a once‑in‑a‑lifetime moment.

🍴 Delicious Buffet Spread The breakfast buffet includes a generous variety—from local specialties like pumpkin soup and Balinese fried rice, to fresh fruit, eggs made to order, pastries, and hot coffee/tea . The food quality was surprisingly fresh and tasty, especially the fried bananas, chicken curry, and homemade soups, all perfectly complementing the view .

👩‍🍳 Friendly & Attentive Service Staff greeted us warmly and guided us to our table seamlessly. They ensured buffet items were promptly restocked and kept the area clean throughout our visit. Several guests left impressed by the attentive and helpful service .

💡 Value & Tips Prices are very reasonable: around IDR 90–128 k (USD 7–9) for breakfast buffet and 115–160 k (USD 8–12) for lunch. Consider visiting between 7–10 AM for the best light and freshest views .

Final Thoughts: If you’re seeking a memorable morning in Bali, grab a seat at The Amora Bali’s Volcano Breakfast. Stunning volcanological vistas, a well-curated buffet, and attentive service combine for an unforgettable sunrise experience with your plate and...

DO NOT EAT HERE.

My partner and I were brought for lunch here by our driver during a day trip. After 6 days in Bali we had nothing but great experiences with food but this restaurant tarnished that record.

I'll start with the positives, the view is fantastic and the staff were nice and friendly, the food itself tasted reasonably nice.

However it was not worth the money (nearly £15 per person when taking into account the charge to park up here) with a ridiculous 13% service charge. Ate at a couple brilliant restaurants in Bali and 5%-10% is more usual. We felt a little robbed to be honest. The view was good but we come from Scotland so to us it wasn't that special, not worth that money.

Now on to the food, it was cold... Really cold. My partner went to the toilet and noticed trays of food sitting out downstairs with no guests eating there. Goodness knows how long it sits. My partner ate one plate and opted to avoid anymore, I had two which was a big mistake. Both of us have had stomach cramps and unpleasant symptoms of food poisoning for 24-48 hours afterwards. There were also quite a number of flies around our tables and the food was uncovered. No doubt flies find their way on to the food.

Please don't eat here if the food is still uncovered and cold...we count ourselves lucky not to have had our holiday ruined but others may not be so lucky.

On the plus side, we haven't eaten much for 2 days so saved some money there! One benefit of food...

Located in main road of Kintamani. Very easy to access and has quite a lot of parking space for cars and motorcycles. Inside is divided into two categories, buffet restaurant and a la carte restaurant each has its own floor. The dining area is facing Mount and Lake Batur and the view is sooo beautiful. They also have a prayer room for moslem. They serve Balinese and Indonesian food with hints of Indian spices. For the food, I ordered Amora Nasi Goreng and Grill Tuna Bumbu Curry. While waiting the dish to be prepared, they provided me with welcome drink and crackers. Nasi Goreng was soggy. It came with chicken satay, sunny side-up, crackers and pickles. Even though they recommended this dish as their favorite, it was below my standard. They should improve their cooking and I hope the rice should be drier. Grill Tuna Bumbu Curry was a different story. It was very delicious. Perfectly cooked and rich in spices. Definitely my favorite. The price when I visited (February 2023) was reasonable. All staff were also helpful and friendly. So for me, I will definitely shortlist this restaurant if I go to Kintamani area.
