A magical, ethereal place, close to Central Ubud, yet so bucolic that it appears to be miles away from its traffic clogged streets. The Yellow Flower Café, so named as it's decorated with marigolds, is in an ultra-quiet semi-forested area, accessed by walking paths only. A flight of slightly steep steps brings you from Jalan Raya to the ridge on which the café is located. A narrow path, branches off to the right and brings you to the café. The first thing that grabs you is the mesmerizing view. On a clear day, you can see Gunung Agung in the distance. The forests below have beautiful flowering trees, and the café itself melds seamlessly with its green location. The structure is in two parts with a kitchen in the middle, open on the sides. The bigger space has a high wood ceiling and impressive, sculpted wooden pillars holding up the roof. Greenery encloses the space and while it's peaceful, sequestered and quiet, it affords no views. You've s choice of different seating, from tables and chairs to tables and benches to cushioned swings and bean bags and floor cushions on thick mats on the floor. The service is friendly and reasonably quick, given that everything is prepared fresh. The food is a bit pricey, but you'll always find something in the food and beverages that doesn't pinch your budget too much. I ordered a homemade granola-muesli breakfast bowl. The grated coconut tasted great. The fruit and nuts and chia seeds were a gourmet's delight. The accompanying khombucha was unfortunately flat - watery and not fermented. Luckily, it was taken away when I explained the situation. I next ordered a sweet half coconut for dessert. It was an unusual dessert, but I might've preferred something else, if I'd an inkling of what it's like. To make up for the missing khombucha I asked for a tender coconut. It was huge and the water was a meal in itself. I lingered over a book, Tim Hannigan's "History of Indonesia" and at 3 in the afternoon decided to move to the other side, and have lunch with Mount Agung views(Bali's tallest mountain at 3100m). The smaller dining space is really pretty, with flowering creepers opening out to sublime views of Bali's dazzling green countryside. I ordered a dosa with vegetable and avocado filling for lunch. The dosa wraps were like dream. The avocado was brilliant and the Balinese greens in the filling were crunchy and fresh. The Yellow Flower Café strikes all the right chords - on service, ambience and food and beverages. The beautiful views...

Yellow Flower Café is one of those places that make you feel like you’ve stumbled into a secret garden. Tucked away in the lush hills of Ubud, it’s a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle – and absolutely worth the short walk through nature to get there 🍃🌺.
The atmosphere is magical: open-air seating, bamboo decor, gentle breezes, and birdsong in the background 🐦🌴. It’s the kind of place where time slows down – perfect for breakfast, brunch or simply a mindful coffee break.
The food is nourishing, fresh, and made with love. We enjoyed delicious smoothie bowls, fluffy pancakes, and Balinese-style breakfasts that were as beautiful as they were tasty 🥞🥣🍳. The coffee and juices were excellent too – strong, flavorful, and served with a smile ☕🍍.
The staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind – you feel the soul of this place not just in the decor or the food, but in the people 🧡.
Tip: Go early and soak in the calm jungle vibes – and don’t forget your camera, because everything here is photogenic 📸🌿.
A true Ubud favorite. We’ll be back – and we’ll...
Read moreA brilliant little (actually quite large!) cafe, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as the delicious Bintang beer and cocktails. Situated in the sleepy sidewalks of Ubud, along narrow and winding pathways of residential areas and warung shops. It has a great view across a valley to more of Ubud, but keeps itself well away from the busy hectic areas. Head up the Penestanon Stairs off Rayan Campuan if you’re not staying in the area, to find it. It serves a mix of locals, tourists and ‘digital nomads’ - no end of Apple Mac laptops on the tables here! Don’t let that put you off, though, the food is delicious and service is excellent! I have been here many times and will be here many times more, it’s a great start to the day before a hike into Ubud and around the local area. They do a great breakfast, Big Bali Breakfast, and an open kitchen so you can see how the Balinese cook! Gluten free and vegan options are largely available as per the rest of Bali. Couldn’t recommend this place enough - big thanks to Adi and his family, very welcoming and they go the extra mile to make sure you have everything...
