Its not shocking that Katsunyaka always try to hide from crowded places (can be seen directly from the street). The restaurant placed with other food vendors and other businesses. You need to follow the trail and signs to notice the entrance (my photo). The health protocol was a bit loose and i expect to be better in future. Sometimes, the smell butter from the next store really confusing my appetite, hopefully the smell from the cake butter wont enter the smoking area. Fhe toilet was a bit spooky and the lock was not proper.
I felt the vibe of narrow and small japanese restaurant here not too different from Braga branch. I really do like the japanese decoration and setting. However the seatings were a bit small in gap between each other so if you bring four people (inside the non smoking area) will be side to side with other table (consider the safe distance gap in pandemic). It was difficul also to bring baby seatin in the non smoking area. So space is a bit issue here.
I ordered the discounted items (thank you) and the service was right on time, so good job there... the taste was also spot on with crunchy sounds every bite but soft on the meat. The juiceness from the meat and the cheese melted, well that really makes you salivate right? It was pleasant lunch with my...
Read moreFair price, cost around 40k for the set menu + ocha (free refill). The taste is quite good but not “that good” from what i expected. For me the chicken katsu is quite tasteless and overcooked (you can see the pic). And It’s ocha is so bland that you can’t find the difference between ocha and mineral water (even for me mineral water still better tho), but yeah what do you expect from 2k rupiah of Ocha with free refill.. so it’s acceptable. The place in here also really small so it’s kinda hot and stuffy especially the smoking area (idk maybe the one in Braga Street is bigger). And lastly the service, urgh they can’t prioritize customers who came first. From what i experienced yesterday, it was too hot in the smoking area so we asked whether we can move to the non-smoking area if there is an empty table. The said OK If the food hasn’t come out. So later, there is an empty table and our food hasn’t come so we asked them but they said No and let another people who just arrived without any reservation first to take the place. It’s kinda dissappoiting for sure, maybe will think twice to come here again.
I hope that they can provide a better service and place...
Read moreTo be honest, i was quite shocked by how small yet efficient this restaurant is at managing their layouts. Theres a huge difference between Katsunyaka's and Bengawan's interior design.
Katsunyaka phenomenal details is something to be appreciated for. From the materials they use to form the mural wall, painting details which also features some japanese hiragana (which roughly translate to their menu), cozy entrance, vice versa.
Katsunyaka also boast a very unique menu plating, by using small grill wire rack, used to place its beef/chicken cutlet, while not ruining the japanese ambient by enforcing the use of miso bowl & textured ocha cup.
Overall a good place, not a heartwarming but sure is a comfortable place to chat & just enjoy...
