Golden Prawn 933 — Restaurant in Batam City

This was my first time lunch at Golden Prawn 933, and honestly, the experience went beyond my expectations. I had always heard that seafood in Batam was delicious, but it turned out to be even better than I imagined.

What I loved most was the concept of dining by the fish pond—such a peaceful and refreshing setting. It really added to the overall experience and made the meal feel more relaxed and close to nature.

I ordered a variety of dishes:

Nestum fried prawns – super flavorful with a crispy outside and juicy inside.

Deep-fried calamari – perfectly fried with a light batter and tender squid.

Stir-fried bitter melon with egg – surprisingly good! I don’t usually like bitter melon, but this dish wasn’t too bitter and had a great balance of flavors.

Gonggong (sea snails) – a Batam specialty, served with a tasty dipping sauce.

Garlic fried chicken – incredibly fragrant and packed with flavor.

Stir-fried water spinach and omelet – classic sides that complemented the meal nicely.

And the highlight for me: Hong Kong-style steamed grouper – the fish was fresh, tender, and cooked just right. The sauce was light but rich in umami, enhancing the natural sweetness of the grouper beautifully.

If I had to point out one downside, it would be the service, which was a bit slow. The restaurant was quite busy, so that might have been a factor—but waiting too long did take away from the experience a little.

Still, overall, Golden Prawn 933 is absolutely worth visiting, especially if you're a seafood lover. The delicious food and the charming dining atmosphere by the pond make it a memorable spot. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Arrived here at around 5.30pm and stayed till 7pm on a Sunday, there were only 4 groups of customers throughout the duration.

Ordered steam prawn (not in picture), 3 black pepper flower crabs, garlic chicken and rice for the price of RP435,600 (SGD43.56).

Prawn was RP70,000 for one piece but it was huge. We were not sure what type of prawn was it. We ordered just to try it and it was nice but definitely not worth RP70,000 per piece.

The flower crabs were RP18,000/gram and we got 3 which weight slightly more than 700gram in total. We like the taste of the dry black pepper but the flower crabs were basically meatless. We don't recommend getting flower crab.

Next, garlic chicken cost RP60,000 and the quantity served was pathetic (see picture). We were given only few pieces and the chicken pieces were mainly bones. We like the taste but i think the restaurant can do better than serving few pieces of chicken bones to us in an exorbitant price of RP60, 000!

Lastly, we didn't enquire the price of the rice as it was put on our table in bucket and we thought it was going to be cheap but we were wrong! The receipt indicated RP9,000 per person for the rice. My boyfriend and I eat very little rice and so we shared one scoop of rice. Obviously, the staff didn't care how little we ate and charged us RP18,000 for 2 person. Of course we didn't argue as it was our mistake.

To conclude, Golden Prawn 555 is a very expensive restaurant and their serving is very little in quantity. Also, there's no view at all. We do not...

we're a group of 6 adults and 2 young children. we had dinner here on 29 July. when we arrived, we were impressed by how huge the place was & the number of tables it could host.

we were told to sit at "tables with pink table cloth only". once seated, a waitress tried to take our order but there was communication barrier because we couldnt speak much bahasa indonesia, only english.

so waitress got another waiter who could speak better english to take our orders:

steamed crab chilli crab salted egg yolk squid eggplant three big coconut calsberg hot water tofu on hotplate mantou for chilli crab kailan youtiao

the first seven items got to our table pretty fast.

after a long time, the waitress asked if our item 8 has arrived. we listed items 8 to 11 that have not arrived. she went to check, came back with item 8 & tried to communicate that the other items were "not ordered".

by then we had waited for a pretty long time and were getting restless.

so after a few rounds of communication barrier, exasperated, we told her "nevermind". she broke into a wide smile & said "thank you". there was no follow up or service recovery.

while some of the dishes like the steam crab and salted egg yolk squid were delicious, the service quality was utterly disappointing.

our bill was 1.1 million rp but we left dissatisfied.
