Easily becoming my go to restaurant for Italian hearty and comfort meal with reasonable price.
I’ve tried their pizza for dine in and take away. Both ways were OK, but I’d prefer to dine in as the taste was more consistent, without any delay in delivery time. To dine in, make sure to call and reserve as it’s a small space with only 4 table for 4/5 person each. I’d not recommend people eating here for nongkrong or talking heart to heart, as you can easily listen to what the other table talk about.
For dine in, i’ve also tried the pasta, risotto, soup, and garlic bread.
For me, the taste was just right. It tastes like delicious original Italian food, without too much flavor or seasoning, unlike most Italian food in Indonesia that has changed the taste to fit with most Indonesian’s palate. So, if your palate is more to MSG or fusion taste or if you are a Medanese who eats every food with sambal or chili, this might not be the recommended place for you.
The location was quite the downside as it was quite tricky to maneuver especially when the road was closed due to wedding or funeral (it still happened a lot in Medan, where people block public road for personal use).
Sometimes it’s a bit confusing for me as to whether I wear my shoes inside or not, because all the staff was barefoot.
But, all in all, the downside is something I can overlook. I hope the place thrive with its consistency in original...
Read moreIt’s a house in a residential area but make no mistake, El’s Pizzeria is deliciosoooo (located right next to Olakisat BPK) Standard Italian Restaurant price (Rp. 678.500 for 2 pizzas, 2 pastas, 5 drinks) There are 2 parking spots in their driveway so you don’t have to park on the street Service needs some work, while they are friendly, the staff is not very knowledgeable They don’t call themselves pizzeria for nothing. A lot of menu items and varieties for pizzas Ordered: Carnivore Pizza with Pineapple [5/5] - The dough is very good and tastes cheesy. Sauce is on point and the toppings are chef’s kiss truffle Bacon [5/5] - Strong truffle smells with crispy bacon with arugula on top. Not as heavy as Carnivore Pizza but just as delicious Spaghetti Vongole [4/5] - The firmness of the spaghetti is on point but the tastes of the clam seems a little off and I can’t really put my hands on it. It kinda takes away from the flavor of the dish. Americano - This is where I’m most disappointed. It tastes like Nescafé instant coffee. I’ll just leave it at that. The meals comes with free dessert, frozen shaved cucumber with sugar in a shot glass. It was pretty good. If you dine for more than Rp. 500.000, they also give you a voucher for free Bak Kut Teh, redeemable in Mamak's Kitchen. I don't know how long this...
Read moreThe best Italian food in Medan, maybe top 3 in Indonesia. Not a fancy place that you can take pictures and show off to your friends, so, people like to take pictures for 45 minutes before eating the food, do not go there. (I wish you don’t even go out to anywhere anyway)
The pizzas are all good, my favs are spicy Italian sausage with honey, carnivore, pistachio- ham, but all are really good.
Tomato soup is handmade for sure, pulpy, delicious.
Fried calamari is amazing, first time I try this kind, they make it like a ball and crispy outside and super tender inside, comes with a nice sauce.
Drinks are good, my fav is yuzu honey lemonade.
Their tiramisu is one of the best I’ve ever tried in my life. And actually it was surprisingly good. Maybe with a little bit less cocoa powder for my taste, but it’s 10/10.
A little dessert/slushy they bring for free is pretty delicious. I could taste cucumber, lemon zest and maybe you could make something with this and yuzu, could be a nice sorbet kinda thing.
LOVE...
