Visited this restaurant during lunch time and it was so crowded. The front of the store was full of people including a lot of Grabfood driver who are waiting for the food. They need to wait for 1 hour to get the food. For dine in customer, just inform the cashier and they will instruct the waiter to call your name once there is empty seat. It took us about 15 minutes to get a table. The service was fast. We ordered Fish Head Curry and packed Rice (rice packed together with vegetable and mixed curry sauce). The waiter will also place other foods on your table and you just pay what you eat. Fish Head Curry is really tasty. It’s the best Fish Head Curry I ever taste. If you are Fish Head Curry’s lover, this restaurant is a must visit restaurant in Medan

Had a quick brunch at the place, as recommended by the locals.make sure you get the ayam goreng (fried chicken) with nasi bungkus (rice, jackfruit, sweet-spicy potato chips and cassava leaves, all wrapped in banana leaf). It is well known that this method of packaging helps to infuse the rice with the banana leaf aroma. Chicken was piping hot and savoury. Skin was crispy while the meat, even when I opted for breast, was super tender. Also, don't forget the crisps and pour some kuah gulai (curry-like sauce) onto your rice. You may want to order more than one piece.

I didn't visit many restaurant in Medan. But I'm sure this is one of the tastiest. Minang taste is very strong and authentic, with good quality of ingredients. The rice comes with fresh boiled cassava leaves, gulai nangka (jackfruit curry), and tasty spicy potato chips. Various side dish from meat to fish is good, so do vegetable menu. You must try gulai kepala ikan (snapper head curry) here, make you want to dig and dig for the rice. A bit busy in the lunch and dinner hour, and it is a bit hard to find parking lot. Not a fancy place, but the foods make it up.

Recommended by a friend, it's a must to go to Pondok Gurih when you're going to Medan. The queue was quite long when I came there on lunch time. However the staff in front of the store tried to manage the queue and give us a number and wait outside. Once the table ready, they will shout the number. I've ordered the popular Kepala Ikan Kakap. OMG it was bomb! The best Kepala Ikan Kakap I've ever eaten ✨ They also offer some foods such as Rendang and Ayam Goreng. The space was quite small to cover its hype. Will go back when I go to Medan 👍🏻

One of the best local restaurant I’ve ever tried in Medan. They serve various local foods. They are famous of their fish head soup. It’s very tasty! Not that spicy. Total price is considered OK, here was what i ordered : Rp 36.000, 2 mixed rice / nasi bungkus. Rp 175.000, medium size 1 fish head soup (for 2 pax) Rp 9.000, 1 additional plain rice. Rp 1.000, 1 iced mineral water. Rp 3.000, 1 iced plain tea. No AC at this place, cards and local digital payment are accepted. Services were nice, they were very fast.

I would never skip this restaurant everytime I visited Medan because it is one of the best minang food in town. me and my husband did takeaway and had it at the hotel because the line was quite long due to lunch time. it was my husband's first time trying Pondok Gurih and he approved. the service was pretty fast for the takeaway and we will definitely come again next time. what we ordered.. mine : dendeng daging (which is pretty big), ayam gulai, semur jengkol my husband : rendang, ayam gulai
