The legendary curry place in town. The place is definitely famous among tourists and the locals. Tabona has been there for so many years and the place has become more and more spacious, also crowded over time. They provide the guests with non AC room (outdoor) and AC room (indoor). I definitely opt for the latter. The type of curry Tabona has is more into 'light' curry instead of the rich and thick one. It is fragrant, I quite like it, although I am more into something that has kickin' flavor. There are two options of meat you can choose which are beef or chicken, served with rice or vermicelli. If you are not a fan of curry, you can go for its Wonton Noodle which tastes okay. Tips for savouring the curry to the maximum experience : Have the 'EMPING' in your curry, it is a kind of chips, they usually put it on table. One thing you shouldn't miss when you are at Tabona,is its Kopi Susu (Traditional Coffee with Milk). That is totally my favourite and if you love coffee, try it and thank me later ! ;)

The most delicious Chicken Curry Bihun (beehoon) I've ever tasted! The curry broth is just so good, just the right conaistency, full of flavour. The chicken is tender, and you can ask for chicken blood cake or no blood cake. There's an option for beef also. And it turned out you can order a mix of chicken & beef, which I only learnt after the fact because the next door table ordered it. Rice is also available if you are not the beehoon type. The place is quite big, there are the outdoor area, with the danger of smokers; and the indoor area which is better. Warning, if you go during the weekends, you need to come as early as possible. Weekdays, come after the breakfast crowd. However, since Tabona is like an institution in Medan, expect it to be always crowded with locals, tourists & food delivery drivers alike. A must must try in Medan!! 👍👍

One of the legend curry in medan. The food is fantastic, absolutely no doubt. They got chicken / beef curry, served with rice / vermicelli / noodle. They will also asked either you want potato / chicken's blood / chicken's organs. If you didn't like, then you can customise as you like. The price as in February 2023: - standard 53k - jumbo 83k This place got that 'dine only' vibes. Means that you came, orders, eat, pay, and go. Not a place for catching up with some friends and talk. But if you take your friends / your elders, then this place won't dissapointed. NB: If you want to go here in peak hours (breakfast / lunch) you should considering using public / online transportation. Because it's difficult to find parking space

Curry Legend that has been selling for decades in Medan city, every day is always busy both from customers in the city and outside city such as Jakarta etc, many foreign tourists also come here, for the taste of course it is delicious with a slightly spicy and a slightly thick sauce texture that is well balance, the beef is soft and tender, standard service, a little pricey but still ok compare with the quality, menu that I recommend is the beef vermicelli curry, it is very suitable to eat this before I go to Australia Overall recommended #AustraliaGang #AustraliaTeam #SehatAlumniAustralia For information : the lack of this stall is they didn’t accept qris payment, only cash and credit/debit card 11-11-2024

Great street food specializing in chicken curry. The curry is usually served with vermicelli, akin to Malaysia/Singaporea's Laksa (you could ask for rice instead if you don't like vermicelli). When we visited at 1pm, the place was absolutely packed, add to that the couriers from various food delivery platforms. The great thing about this place is that the visitors were mostly locals, therefore price was very reasonable. Taste of curry was mild and soupy, almost similar to Soto dish. You could order bakmie (Indonesian noodle dish) too that has predominantly chicken in it with bits of pork. Place was hot and stuffy but that is the beauty.

If you're in town and looking for a hearty breakfast, look no further than this. Their specialty is the curry beehoon (rice noodle) with either chicken or beef. Soup was aromatic yet light and slurp-able. The beehoons were thicker and springier than typical beehoons, which added delightful texture. Another cool thing is that you could choose the meat parts and/or include innards in your order. As a personal rule of thumb to check chicken dish quality, I opted for breast meat. Was thoroughly surprised at how tender the chicken was. The whole set cost IDR 55,000 (approx USD 3.7). Final take: this is a MUST have while in Medan.
