Do not be fooled by its commonplace appearance. Like so many things, it is not what is outside, but what is inside that counts.
Warung Kursi Pendek is located inside Puri Mesari hotel. Just go down the stairs once you're inside the lobby.
Unlike many restaurants, it has a very humble appearance. I must admit, I was doubtful at first. Although I heard many good things about this restaurant.
And ...yes. The taste was outstanding withiut question. I order a bowl of beef broth pho with beef brisket. Oh dear lord, the brisket melted in your mouth leaving that good meaty after taste wanting you to crave for more. The broth? The essence of a bowl of pho created perfectly. I finished all the broth down to the last drop.
I managed to get a taste of my colleagues menu as well, a fried noodle (i forgot the Vietnamese name) and some nasi goreng with sweet pork belly on top....it was comforting.
It's been a while since the last time I had a nice hot bowl of pho.
With a price point of 50k per bowl? It's a catch! With the taste? Gimme more.
I dare to say, this place deserve more credit.
Please spare time to visit this establishment while you're in Bali. I'm just a random Google reviewer, I know, but I can vouch for this one that it...
Read moreCame here to celebrate Valentine's and never felt so uncomfortable in a restaurant in my Life. 4 cooks came out of the kitchen and sat at the reception to watch us eat, laugh at us and stare intensely for 30 minutes. Intimidating.and inappropriate. We almost got up and left without paying! Cut my appetite and brought half my meal to eat at my hotel. Asked them if they had something to tell us while paying, two just snide at us and pretended they did not speak English.
As for authentic Vietnamese, it is not. Similar and decent taste. There is no viet ambiance or music here. This is not a Vietnamese owned and operated restaurant.
Fun fact : Beef or chicken Pho does not come here with the meat. You must add it by purchasing an extra! The brooth is fair, but is unfortunately not cooked traditionally with the bones.
Summer roll sauce should be simmered shallot/peanut/fish sauce. Instead, we were served the same sour chili sauce from the Spring rolls again, nobstanding what it stated in the menu.
For people that wish to discover this cuisine for the first time or even for those like myself who live with a Vietnamese who cooks it regularly, I "uncomfortably" don't...

It was my second visit, and I still love it. We ordered the Shrimp Summer Roll, Beef Banh Mi, and Cakwe for starters.
The Shrimp Summer Roll is fresh, filled with an abundance of refreshing herbs that pairs really well with the Nuoc Cham sauce – I'm in love with it! The Banh Mi portion is quite generous; even after sharing it between two people, we felt comfortably full. The Cakwe was fried to crispy perfection, paired with the same Nuoc Cham sauce that I fell head over heels for. Just perfect!
A point for improvement: Although we know it's partly our fault for not reserving beforehand, the waiting time to get the menu was quite long. However, in fairness, our dishes arrived at a good pace once ordered.
Note for first-time diners: Reserving a table won't hurt. They also have limited parking space inside, enough for about three cars and ten or so motorbikes.
Overall, it was a pleasant dinner. Thank you for the complimentary Christmas cookies – they...
