Me and niece had bad choice of first night at the begin of this trip on 1st of April. We feel very down and hungry. Just walk out of hotel, and see this small but warm and relax place. I ask what type of food before we sit down. Vegan and vegetarian, that fresh up my mind. And makes me forget about me bad choice of hotel. How lucky I'm as a vegan.
When we were there, most of customers are not from local, even though I maybe the most looks like one.
It's not easy image of what their food may looks like from the menu. So I had to ask again before order.
The have very good and variety of choices. Also great and natural drinks and hard drinks also available.
I had a Wulan Curry, suprised me that the jet fruit made into the dish is one of my must favourite Indonesian dish. It's taste like soft veges, and milky flavor from coconuts, but not to strong, very similar like soft bamboo my home town Taiwan.
And my niece has a Mushroom Risotto. Before serve, I'm confused how it would be. Again, surprised me ! It serve like Spanish stewed rice, a bit dry and sticky, and flavor is very rich.
We both like it much. They all serve with some fresh veggies and Indonesian special fried chips from some kind of beans.
I always like soup, but I have no understanding to the menu. So I took their suggest. It taste more like a mix vegetables by very fine cut, along with 2 pics of bread.
Those 3 surprised dishes, and tasty flavours, energised and wash out all my down, sadness from my bad hotel. And since it's vegan, I don't have to ask and worry if has any meal or non-vege inside.
My girl just like simple drinks, so she just had orange juice. I had a popular one is: butterfly pea buch. Again, no idea before serve. It comes with purple colour which I'm sure it's natural. Because we had the flower of butterfly pea at home too. They mix some self made and fermented juice, which taste sour and acidity strongly. Personally I like sour taste so much, but still strong to me. It's their own flavour of drinks. Never had before anywhere else.
I'm so full charged in physically and mentally. And I'm so lucky as a vagan. I must come again next time when I visit Bali. And must recommend to my friends.
This is the first time I gave 4.5+. I'm looking so forward much to my next visit and taste, no matter where the chief go....
Read moreI’m not a Vegan, definitely not vegetarian.. not even close .. but I had heard good things about a pretty little place that I had ridden past many times and so in search of something a little different … and healthy for my Saturday Brunch I made the short ride up Jl Danau Poso to Jhoii … and so very glad I did. On entering the stylish light bright interior of Jhoii I kind of felt .. hmmmm … calm .. it really has a serene feel about it. I was presented the menu by the lovely Murti and was immediately drawn to the title “what you drink and eat matters” … and before even trying the food totally impressed with the ethos & concept of Cynthia Louise & Simone’s ‘mission statement’ … starting with ‘At Jhoii we pay tribute to the incredible tradition of Balinese women and their centuries old Wisdom’ … I knew I was going to be in for a treat … and what a treat it was … with a meal like the one I chose presented to me I seriously COULD become Vegetarian. The menu is interesting, diverse delicious sounding and unashamedly Plant-based. I went with the ‘Okonomiyaki Pancake’ which was so beautifully and tasted even better than it looked … seriously the best brunch I have had to date in Bali. There were so many other enticing options on the ‘all day’ Breakfast menu that I will definitely be back to try. And the Jhoii Nourishment menu which covered ‘Light’ and ‘Full’ Moments looked even more amazing and incredibly well priced. For those with a Sweet Tooth the ‘Sweet Love by Jhoii’ will definitely more than satisfy and then there are the many and varied drink options including beer & wine to accompany lunch or dinner - Jhoii is open from 8am to 9pm … I’m not just recommending.. I’m saying you MUST put this one on your dining list .. Bravo and well done to Cynthia Louise, Simone and the beautiful friendly team at Jhoii .. I will definitely be back .. again and...
Read moreI’ve eaten here 3 times.
First time was great. We had the miso ramen, chocolate cake, and hormone balancing tea. Aside from the server spilling out half the tea onto the table upon serving (minor), the experience was good and we liked the food.
The second time I came here solo and after my very over-friendly server recommended the green goddess dish, and confirming they used coconut oil, I left the restaurant oozing oil from my pores and an intense headache which I often get with low quality / unhealthy oils.
I left a review about my experience — which I often do if the experience was really good or negative for me. Negative reviews I leave to get the attention of the owner/manager and then delete afterwards as I don’t like to negatively impact a business. After the owner responded, I deleted the review.
The next day I came back with a friend, and the same server who served me the day before, obviously was impacted by my review and was unfriendly, giving me looks, and talking to the rest of the staff pointing out that I was the girl who left the negative review. It was awkward and uncomfortable as the energy and looks coming from her and the rest of the staff was obvious and negative.
I hope by leaving this review, it gives the business owners some feedback, as I would appreciate myself as a business owner knowing about these...
