Yesterday, some of us (who are part of the medical team) arrived at this place, after three days of driving from eastern Indonesia (NTT), where we work in the areas of infectious diseases prevention and treatments.

We have to repair one of our medical trucks in Surabaya and we decided to make a quick stop at this restaurant that we knew well. We were looking for something good to eat after almost six months of social and medical work in the field, in very difficult conditions. Happy to be there but...

Around 7:30 p.m., very tired from so much driving and 28 hours ferry, we parked the medical truck in front of the restaurant, happy to be there after days of driving, impatient to have a good meal that we so deserved! Happy for 15 seconds only!

But a very bad and and aggressive person (i guess the security...), asked us to leave immediately with without any compassion, and move our big medical truck from this public parking place. Why? Because the police chief (Polda), wanted to come and eat and needed this parking space for his car!!!

Unbelievable, it's really very unfortunate that this place has such practices. We were all very shocked by the way people spoke and looked at us, we left making it clear to them that the Chief of Police was not more important than anyone else...

Such practices should no longer exist. Privileges due to social ranks and classes are very degrading and can cause serious psychological damage. We protest against these practices from another time and demand immediate...
