Read moreScrolled though Google maps to find somewhere to eat within walking distance and found Fellas as well as MadeInItaly, unfortunately went to MadeInItaly first, should have just gone here twice. They open from midday - 11pm every day so I could easily have gone for lunch and dinner every day whilst I was here. Free delivery is another option so I could also even enjoy the experience from my aircon hotel room or by the beach. Neat medium sized shop front with a view of the woodfire pizza as the centerpiece. Humble menu, not pretentious at all. Ordered the fried squid and âSunday Memoriesâ pizza. Fried squid was crispy and tender, served with a simple aioli. I found by squeezing the lime into the aioli brought it more to life with a bit of zest. Good lord, the âSunday Memoriesâ pizza was amazing. Generous portion size too. Lightly charred crust giving way to a chewy and forgiving dough dusted in semolina. The pizza was a truffle bĂ©chamel base with mozzarella and beef ragu. I found the ragu to resemble more of a bolognese since they used mince but, it was incredibly well seasoned, vibrant and rich. The mozzarella slices were thick and combined with the bĂ©chamel provided the necessary creaminess to balance the richly seasoned ragu. I had to go hunting for the âtruffleâ in the bĂ©chamel, perhaps an oil was used as I couldnât find any shavings or dices but, after peeling back the mozzarella and ragu, the subtleties of the truffle could be found. The price almost made me feel bad, 95k for something this elegant, generous and thought provoking, would have happily paid twice as much. Comparing it to the pizza I had at MadeInItaly, Fellas had twice as much flavour and cost much less. Comparing it to pizzas in Sydney, Australia, I wouldnât be able to tell the difference. Shame however that I only ate here for my last meal in Labuan Bajo. I couldnât recommend it enough to anyone looking for somewhere to eat, especially if they have a...
Read morePizza and bruschetta were great, probably the best we've had in 6 months in Asia. But: The live music was at least club volume, we sat right in front of a speaker. We immediately asked for the volume to be lowered. It was lowered from maybe 100 decibels to 95. It was impossible to have a conversation, so we quickly finished our food and left. Outrageous with a bill of over 500k!
A few more points about the owner's answer:
I'm afraid you're wrong, no one said anything about live music, at least to either of us. But that wouldn't have been a problem for us anyway, we love live music. Just at a different volume. As I said, we didn't eat pizza in a club, but in a restaurant. We're not dramatizing anything here: we had to shout at each other across the table to communicate and still didn't understand half of it. Ironically, the owner didn't understand our complaint about the volume being too high either, purely acoustically. And unfortunately you're also wrong when you say that we stayed seated for longer. I can assure you that we ate as quickly as possible, finished our drinks and then left. Of course, we didn't have dessert or a second drink, which we would have liked to...
