Asan Grill Batak — Restaurant in Jakarta

My sister's recommendation brought me here and I'm not disappointed at all! In fact I'm very satisfied!

Food we ordered: Oven pork ribs with barbeque (S) - nice portion for 1-2 pax. The ribs is well marinated and it pulled out easily, since it is oven bbq, so not so smokey but still very tasty!

Pork Belly Khas Danau Toba (S) - nice portion for 2-4pax. The skin still crunchy and the meat is tender. Extra credit for good balance of the pork belly layers (fats and meat). They served it with a special dipping sauce which I think it's unique

Crispy Balinese Samcan (S) - nice portion for 2-3 pax. This is my favorite ♥️! Super crispy, rich of flavor and somehow I feel like eating a cotton-alike meat, very light (this might be a weird description 😂)

Daun Singkong Tumbuk - nice portion for 2-4pax. This is like the other common daun singkong tumbuk

You will also get a small bowl of clear soup and sambal!

Will definitely come back again to try more varieties...

The place was crowded when we arrived. They admitted that they didn't have a queueing system, so they couldn't make a waiting list for the customer.

It seemed that they didn't have a good system to take order for the customers. I could hear waitresses quarreled because none of them had input the order from the customer from table 29. It was so loud at the moment, but their voice was louder.

It took more than 1 hour for us to get our food ready. When we wanted to order an extra menu, the waiter (probably the manager since he is the only one wearing a suit) complained, "yah nambah lagi ya?!" With a sigh, grumpy face and high voice.

When we asked the waitress to bring out our rice (we ordered 3 rice, but they only give 2), the waitress shouted at us, "Tuh kan udah 3 kan nasinya!!", when her friend finally brought another one to our table. It was really horrible. Never in my life, I was getting shouted by a waitress. THEY HAVE THE WORST SERVICE. DONT COME...

The food is great. Pork dishes and pork satay were awesome. Too bad the combo/mixed menu (rice, meat, veggie combo) was not available. Their selfmade sambal was hot, eye watering but made you wanted more. The rice was of low quality. Sorry to say that but fried savoury pork dishes should come with good rice. The waiting staff were attentive, quick on their feet. Lots of seatings indoor or outdoor available. But they let a guest sat her Corgi with no diaper sat on the chair. I had 4 dogs, male and female. And I knew they did not have clean butt. Corgi or no Corgi. The staff/owner should apply clear boundaries...
