Common Grounds — Restaurant in Jakarta

Great brunch!!!

Me and my friends just wanna have light meal and some light drinks today, and its a bit to early for lunch, so we decide to look for a cozy place in PIM 2, till we founnd a small place with eye catching interior named "common ground"

it look like a coffee place but its too bright to be called a coffee as shop, when we looked at the menu, woaah they have a brunch items.

A friendly welcome from the staffs already gave us a positive vibe and mood.

We choose 2 egg Benedict and 2 avocado mashed. And for drinks we choose green tea blend/shakes, cafe americano, some brewed tea, and mineral water.

When our drink came, i just surprised when i saw the biscuits for the coffee, a mini Gingerbread house, such details! But they forgot to serve the sugar haha, until we ask,

The tea is serve in small brewer pot, and green tea shake in a normal glass. The green tea shakes taste awesome, the sweetness is just perfect..

When our food came my ow my..., My eyes!!!! Perfect persentation, simple but wow. And the taste... Poof its very good, **egg Benedict, the eggs well poached, a bit over cooked on yolk, and i don't know how they poached it, but the shape is funny, hollandaise sauce, perfect! Serve with salad, i think its with mustard dressing, the dressing taste its very strong on the mustard taste, almost killed the salad ** Avocado mashed Same poached egg, serve on rye toast with mashed avocado like spread. Sprinkled quinoa añd mustard seed on top for garnish amd served with salad same dressing, the combination of the eggs, avocado and bread is just damn good!!

A bit advice, maybe you can ask for seperate dressing for the salad, really the taste is very strong. Or maybe you can ask for dressings option (this i forgot to ask them hehehe)

Overall experience its just greaaaattt, definitely come back here and...

I suppose this is my first one star review ever, sadly it happens to my favorite brand of coffeeshop that I've known since meeting their owner at Sukanda.

Anyway, last evening your establishment lost two groups of customers, and one big fan (me) due to a server's extremely unprofessional and confrontational behavior.

This happens at CG PIM 1.

First, a group of senior citizens about 10-11 person all dressed up probably seeking a slow relaxing evening coffee after iftar, requesting to arrange tables for their group, were possibly met with argument leading them to leave.

Shortly after, seeing from afar our group of 9 person came along, seeing this group leaving thus thinking that the tables were available (unaware of the prior altercation) our group went in and of course tried to rearrange the uncleaned table to fit a group. Then.., the same server came running reacted with angry intonation to not touch the tables, hands straight removing the table from us without any explanation. We're just standing there appalled by the situation.

This created a scene witnessed by the previous departing senior citizens, who then came back rightfully questioned the inconsistency for accepting service to our group and denying to theirs. We then learned of their unfortunate experience and was denied service, like them - we chose to leave to avoid further escalations.

This demonstrates a clear need for enhanced staff training, particularly in respectful communication with senior citizens before us. Come on they're about 70+ years old, that's just plain...

Nice strategic restaurant in PIM 1. PIM is also known as Pondok Indah Mall, for a quick reference. And PIM has total of 3 malls yeah 🤭

Lets dive in!

Food: We bought a simple dessert and a plate of Mac & Cheese. We thought it was just a simple taste but wow, were we wrong. It was both flavorful and we yummy. And based on the crowd around, especially with pizzas around, we would guess this is a definite place to go in PIM.

Service: Staff was only on smile mode when conversed to, else it would be a stoic feature. Looking at how busy they are, with the crowd, we would understand why.

Atmosphere; There are non stop influx of people coming to the restaurant. Other restaurants nearby doesnt seem to be as packed as this. With the layout and lighting, the management has done its homework well. This is a definite place to unwind, chill and catch up.

Price: This is one thing we need to point out so that there are no surprises.. Do check our images out as we have taken a few shots of the meny.

All in all, this is one restaurant we would recommend in...
