Holycow! STEAKHOUSE By Chef Afit — Restaurant in Jakarta

Like is an overstatement? I give it 4 star since I used to love this joint. But if this is my first time I'm gonna give it a 3 star. Okay, the location itself in one of busiest meeting place in south jakarta is good, tucked in a far corner is not, first timer may face some difficulties finding it. I came in just after lunch rush hour so there are some crowd when I came in but gradually it thins out, and even if it's crowded it's not an excuse to treat the customer rudely, minus 1 from me. Next, they got my order wrong, ordered french fries he wrote it mashed potato, like seriously, it's nothing major just annoying, minus 2. They did not serve old menu again or some of the menu listed are not available that's fine, happens all the time. But the one I did order though is awful. I ordered a sirloin, not wagyu or anything so I did not expect it to be extremely tender but what they serve me is a brick, the meat is fine, cooked well (medium) to my liking but the fat in the sirloin... painfully solid I just can't eat it and I finished with some left over (the fat)... like I said in the beginning, if this is my first time I'm gonna give it 3 star but I used to love this so I'm gonna give it a 4 in hopes they can make a comeback. But for now? I'm gonna stay...

Dish: Cooking of the meat We ordered 400gr meat, asked for medium, and that's exactly what we got! Really loved the shade of pink! Should've let the meat rest for a couple more minutes though (a tad too much juice on my plate). See pic for reference. Extra sauce The sauce is given in a small bowl, and you can ask for more sauce (same or different flavour). My favourite is the mushroom sauce. The black pepper sauce is way sweeter than average. Meat selections They offer different types of meat. We actually chose the cheapest one, but it's so tender and perfectly seasoned. Place: Quiet It's located in the corner, one floor above street level. When I visited, there was a really loud rap music from the street level, but thankfully we couldn't hear it from inside Holycow. I think this place has recently been renovated. It now feels bigger, more spacious, and carries a simple yet warm and inviting atmosphere. The steak here, just like in their other branches, still maintains the same consistent quality, which is always a plus. My go-to is always the Chef’s Afit Signature, it never disappoints. I also really enjoy their sautéed spinach paired with the rich black pepper sauce and mushroom sauce, such a perfect combination. The mashed potatoes are still as soft as ever, though I feel they’ve lost a bit of the creamy touch they used to have. Still, they remain a good complement to the meal.
