I recently visited My Kopi O! restaurant in Cilandak Town Square and ordered Laksa, Tofu, and Teh Tarik, planned to work there for a couple of hours over the weekend. The place offers a great ambiance, striking a perfect balance between being lively and not overly crowded, which was ideal for both dining and chatting. However, although the setting was generally conducive to spending a few hours, the tables were more suited for conversing with friends rather than working, as they were a bit too low to comfortably use for laptop work.
The food overall was decent. The Laksa was satisfactory but not exceptional. It had a rich flavor you'd look for in a Laksa, but mind you, this is not an authentic one. You can see from my picture that this is a fusion kind, where they incorporate green beans and eggplant into it; which are not authentic ingredients in a Laksa. The Teh Tarik was probably the highlight, served with an abundance of foam – just how it should be!
However, my experience was marred by an unexpected discovery in my Laksa—a large rock!! Fortunately, I hadn't bitten down hard; otherwise, it could have caused serious dental damage. Thank God I did not swallow the rock either. Otherwise, it could have been dangerous. I brought this to the attention of the staff immediately. The waitress was very apologetic and assured me that she would inform the chef to ensure such an oversight doesn’t happen again. This incident did raise concerns about the thoroughness of their ingredient preparation.
While the waitress was apologetic, the restaurant did not offer any form of compensation. While I wasn't particularly looking for compensation, an offer would have been a reassuring gesture of their concern for customer satisfaction and safety. Their response was underwhelming, knowing that the stone was not tiny, it was the size of my pinky fingernail! It could have done some damage if bitten or swallowed!! I went home feeling unsatisfied and underwhelmed, just by their response to this...
