Nestled in the heart of Indonesia, Katsutoku stands out as a premier destination for lovers of Japanese cuisine, particularly those who crave the exquisite art of katsu. As the first katsu-specialized restaurant in the country, Katsutoku brings an authentic taste directly from Utsunomiya, Japan. This ensures that each dish is crafted with the same dedication and quality that one would find in the bustling eateries of Japan.
On a recent visit, we embarked on a culinary journey for three, beginning with the Pork Tenderloin Katsu set. This delightful offering included four pieces of tender, perfectly breaded pork tenderloin, complemented by a fresh cabbage salad adorned with a rich sesame dressing. Accompanying this were a comforting bowl of pork radish soup and a serving of the fluffiest Japanese white rice. Each bite of the katsu was a harmonious blend of crispiness and tenderness, making it a standout dish.
Next, we savored the Chicken Nan Ban set. True to its reputation, the chicken was incredibly juicy, encased in a crispy, flavorful skin. The dish was elevated by a generous drizzle of egg and mayo topping, creating a symphony of flavors that danced on the palate. The set came with the same delectable side dishes as the Pork Tenderloin Katsu set, ensuring a well-rounded and satisfying meal.
The highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the Buta No Kakuni, a succulent pork belly dish simmered in soy sauce. This dish offered the silkiest and most tender pork belly we've ever tasted, each piece melting in the mouth and delivering an explosion of umami.
Throughout our dining experience, the quality and authenticity of Katsutoku's offerings transported us back to the vibrant culinary scenes of Japan. The restaurant also serves hot and cold ocha, both of which are refillable, adding to the traditional Japanese dining experience.
Having frequented Katsutoku over ten times, this visit finally allowed me to document the experience before eagerly diving in. The consistency and excellence of their food keep us returning, and I sincerely hope Katsutoku continues to thrive for decades to come.
For those not in Southern Jakarta, if I am not mistaken, Katsutoku has additional locations at Arjuna Golf in West Jakarta, Central Market Golf Island PIK in North Jakarta, and Plaza Indonesia in Central Jakarta. Each location maintains the same high standards, ensuring a delightful dining experience no matter...
Read moreI love going to Katsutoku whenever I'm in town. They used to have oyster katsu which is to die for. Their pork sirloin and tenderloin set for lunch is a steal, and I'm more than happy to spend $20+ in Jakarta for such a great meal.
However, today I was quite disappointed. Mind you, the food is excellent as always, and I had the opportunity to try their new unagi katsu, which paired well with their spicy soy sauce. However, as I am indulging my meal, I noticed that there was a strand of hair in my bowl of rice.
I immediately stopped eating, notified the staff, to which they apologised, and then offered me to bring another bowl of rice. Given how the rice is cooked from the same batch, I had no appetite to get another bowl and just ordered the bill. Nothing else was done and I did not want to make a scene (which is usually how you get attention in Indonesia)
Honestly, I know Indonesia is not famed for its customer service. But grave errors like this should have been handled more professionally. I expect the best for spending that much to eat in Jakarta's premier Katsu shop. I hope that this serves as a reminder for the restaurant to maintain its quality as it gains...
Read moreOne of the best place to eat Tonkatsu (pork cutlet) in Jakarta! It’s located in Sentral Senayan, you can enter through Lekko Plaza Senayan.
The place looks small but it’s actually bigger inside, with lots of table and homey interior. You can make your own sesame tonkatsu sauce, provided on table.
Here’s my usual order (I kinda forget the name, just remember what’s inside the package. LOL): ⭐️Pork sirloin tonkatsu package (200g), their tonkatsu taste nice, cook perfectly, and taste rich as there’s still has the pig fat on it. The package can feed 2 girls, just need an extra rice.
⭐️Pork sirloin tonkatsu with ebi furai, you can taste the freshness of the shrimp! It still taste very sweet and savory from the batter. It also can feed 2 girls.
⭐️Potato salad, very good appetizer. Comes a bit cold, but I personally love cold potato salad. All the vegetables still have its crunch.
All the package comes with rice, salad, chawan mushi (Japanese steamed egg dish), and miso soup (I usually upgrade to Tonjiru, pork miso soup. more tasty!)
Overall, every dining experience here is so nice, always looking forward for another...
