The downfall of Le Quartier.

This place has been my go-to restaurant for special occasions, including this visit which is Christmas Lunch and Birthday Celebration. Let's start with the plates and cutlery. They're dirty and have oil marks everywhere. We have to swap the plates twice since we are worried about hygiene. What makes it worse is there's no stand-by stuff between the tables, and we have to wait a long time just to have it replaced.

We ordered Escargot, Mussels, and Steaks. Escargot - It's way too oily, the mushroom is slightly undercooked and the escargot texture is just overwhelmed by mushroom texture (7/10)

Mussels - Sauce is fantastic, but the mussels are fishy. (4/10)

Between the appetizers and main course, we have to wait around 30 minutes to have our food ready. And it came burnt.

Steak - The steak comes in a hotplate, Le Quartier serves the fries and steak over the hotplate. The waiter didn't pour the sauce, and it caused the fries to be burnt. We called the waiter and they said it's their "standard" to serve the food in that way, including the burnt fries. (1/10)

We asked for the fries to be replaced, and the waiter took the whole steak and fries and didn't come back to our place for 15 minutes. We told the staff to leave the steak with us and take away only the fries and replace them with new ones. But the waiter insisted on taking everything and the steak came back to us very cold, and all the meat juice was thrown away as well. We complained regarding this and the same staff said it's their "Standard" of doing it this way including serving cold meat.

We raised this problem to the manager, and the manager hesitantly listened to our problem, and after a series of complaints, she finally listened to our problem. But we ended up having to wait for another 15-20 minutes to have our food ready, while we already provided the solution in the beginning and the "non-professional" staff kept doing his things most annoyingly.

Lastly, for the cherry on top, the valet tried to rip off some money as well, it's clearly stated that the fee of the valet is 25k IDR and we presented 50k IDR. They tried to not give the change and took it as their tip without saying anything.

Given this company restaurant motto is Integrity, Quality, Consistency, and Value I can say that Integrity is drained off, Quality does not exist, Consistency of saying it's their standard is the only thing that shows up, and the value for the price you put compared to the food quality you serves is a joke.

I hope Le Quartier can bounce back from this disastrous standard to a better standard...

Great food, a bit pricy but still really good value for money. Arguably the best mashed potatoes in town.

Smoked salmon waffle for 186 K IDR++

The most butter-infused (and not just butter slathered, mind you) waffle made crispy with a good more than your average amount of Maillard reaction topped with some nice creamed spinach, great baked tomatoes, slices of good smoked salmon, two perfectly poached eggs, and topped with a sufficiently salty and creamy mousseline sauce served on a heated plate to keep the dish warm for longer as well as a side of mixed fresh fruits.

I cannot stress just how good the waffle is. It might be a bit too buttery for some, but i only found it slightly decadent. The baked tomatoes were just perfect in terms of taste and texture and its freshness is complemented so well by the sauce. The smoked salmon is so soft while also imparting an enjoyably salty yet clean taste. Last but not least, the perfectly poached egg was the epitome of clean egg taste which the mousseline just amplifies so well with its creamy saltiness. All in all, this really is a filling meal and the quality really is top notch. So although the asking price does feel steep, i will have to say that it is still quite worth it.

The eggs benedict were also great at 166 K++ because the slices of ham it comes with is really enjoyable and the bread, butter, and jam is also nice. The sides were also nice - fresh greens, great baked tomatoes, and really nice baked beans which goes so well with the mousseline sauce although sadly the bagels were just okay and potatoes were kinda meh. Next in line, in terms of value for money, comes the 166 K++ whiskey scrambled eggs which are great especially for how crunchy the croissant is.

However, the side of bacon for 72 K++ (iirc) was a tad too little and too salty albeit being fried to a perfect amount of crispiness. Subsequently, the various drinks on offer also tended to be bad value for money. So really i think this place is better for dinner than breakfast.
