Babooji is an Indian Kitchen & Bar located at Gunawarman with a modern-vintage feel: warm wooden interiors, some fun quirky touches and cozy atmosphere
We ordered the chicken tikka and it’s well-marinated, with good balance of spices. The char from the tandoor adds a nice smoky depth. Doesn’t feel dry at all.
Their lamb rogan josh is So good. The lamb is tender, the gravy rich without being overwhelming. Garlic, onions and spices shine through. A dish that shows Babooji isn’t just about flashy – they can really do traditional well.
The garlic naan, soft and fluffy, garlic flavour is present but not overpowering. Perfect for sopping up the sauces and gravies. Maybe could be more garlicky.

Read moreThis place serves the good kind of indian meal. Not too spicy, not too oily, just the right amount of spices and masala. So food wise, perfect 10/10. Waiters are also very attentive.
Now as the name and restaurant logo suggests, I was hoping for a quirkier, cuter, version of an indian restaurant. Hoping it would be somewhat decorated with indian crafts surrounding the theme 'babooji'. But nothing of that sort. Its still a gorgeous, classy place though.
Food is on the pricier side, as expected from indian restaurants in jakarta (or anywhere in the world outside india). So do prepare to pay a hefty sum for a delicious treat! Will definitely be back.
