I recently dined at Magal Puri and unfortunately had a very unpleasant experience. Despite the food being decent, the overall hygiene and response from the staff were extremely disappointing.
Throughout the meal, flies repeatedly landed on our food. After raising this concern, the staff did not immediately address the issue. Shockingly, their “solution” was to offer to spray insecticide (yes, the kind used for pests—not appropriate for food service areas) near our table, which is absolutely unacceptable in any dining environment.
To make matters worse, there was a strong and unpleasant odor around our table—something between sewage and garbage—which made the dining experience even more uncomfortable. They brought a candle, but it didn’t help at all.
This level of cleanliness and response is a serious red flag. While the taste of the food was okay, everything else about the experience was chaotic and unhygienic. I won’t be returning, and I hope the management seriously re-evaluates...

When we came in, it was about 6 pm, there were 8 of us including a toddler and they gave us a cramped table which was very small and first did not let us extend the next table... because their excuse was... it's the weekend. But the other table, which was big enough for 8, they said it's for social distancing and can only accomodate 4 pax. Which is ridiculous, they put us on the same size table for 8 people and then said that... the other table is for 4 only.
Luckily the supervisor came and extended our table.
The aircon was strongly blowing down and the flap was broken so it wouldn't adjust to spray higher (not downwards)
The meat was okay, that's the only thing better than the service. They did not offer us any fruits when we finished, although we finished about 7.30 pm. I wouldn't go there again.... Choose another outlet if you want...
Read moreMagal is a well-known Korean barbecue restaurant chain in Indonesia. They have several outlets, but I have noticed that some of them have changed their names or are not under the same management as the original Magal from Korea.
I enjoy visiting Magal for their delicious pork barbecue, especially the spicy marinated pork skirt meat and mapo samgyupsal. They also serve kimchi steam egg, which adds a nice complexity of flavors to the meal. The ban chan (side dishes) are standard and not as special as those served at independent authentic Korean restaurants, but they are still good.
The combination of all these dishes, wrapped in lettuce and perilla leaves, creates a burst of flavors in my mouth. The prices are reasonable for a Korean...
