I had high expectation on this restaurant due to its extensive positive reviews on social media. However, the dining experience was a HUGE let down. We ordered the spicy collagen seafood ramen, spicy collagen chicken ramen, and one of the wet aged wagyu steak (200 gram). The ramen was blah, bland, no hint of any seafood taste for the soup. The noodles tasted more like a reguler noodle than a ramen noodle. The seafood topping was merely 2 shrimps and some chunks of white fish. The chicken ramen was not any better. As a ramen lover who loves trying out new ramen places, I just couldn't finish the ramen. So we skipped to the wet-aged steak, the wagyu one (couldn't remember the cut though), and we ordered our steak medium. Unfortunately, the steak came out a bit rarer than we would expect. So, we asked for griller on our table to be turned on for the meat to be cooked more.... however, much to our disappointment, the griller on our table WAS NOT OPERATIONAL. It was broken! Why on earth would you give us a table with a broken griller without even informing us in the first place?? In a steakhouse for god's sake! The only thing they told us was that the meat would be grilled on other table, but they never told us it was because of the broken griller, so we thought that was somehow SOP or something. So they took our meat for further cooking, and after quite a while, the meat was served to us, this time the doneness was quite to our liking... BUT THE MEAT WAS COLD! Not even warm! A steakhouse restaurant served us cold steak! God, what a horrible experience and for a meal that cost us 800rb for 2, we are definitely NEVER COMING BACK HERE. There are better, i mean BETTER, japanese steakhouse...
Read moreHad a mixed feelings dining here. Looking at foodies posting on social media, had to come and try it myself. Came during weekdays late lunch around 2PM, only about 2 or 3 tables that are occupied. Service is okay, they explain the meat before grilling it, although they are not standby which kinda difficult to call in needs of assistance. They not only serves steak, but many other japanese menus, sushi, noodle, etc
Place are spacious, grilling stove in all tables if I wasn't mistaken. We had duck foei chawan mushi (IDR 50k) a very beautiful presentation of the dish. The foei gras not fishy, fillings are generous, obviously pricy for a chawan mushi, but I like it and it has many fillings as being describe. Taste kinda sweet salty which I like.
Tamago sushi was just okay, tamago sweet salty but not smooth.
We had the dry age and the wet age one. You can order 100 grams only if you want, and price range around 200k above per 100 grams. They assist you grilling it. And I suggest, go for medium rare. We had the dry age kinda wrong, medium, and its not juicy, kinda hard. The wet one , striploin had it go medium rare, and it is slightly better than our dry age. Juicy, I know it is a striploin, but it's not that cheap sirloin. It actually had a slice which is all fat. Kinda forgot which cut we had for dry age.
The only thing memorable is the chawan mushi, for me. Price is not that cheap, spend around IDR 1.3 mio here, not that affordable as the endorsement proclaim. Mixed feelings with the steak, since pricey but got like not that satisfied. Wouldn't come back here, had better option for a steak and more affordable than this one. I'm sorry, I'm very picky in...
Read moreMisuji is a japanese restaurant which specializes in steak with a very modern interior design.
The meats that they offer are dry-aged and wet-aged to be precise. The steak is a tad pricey but in my opinion is well worth it. After you choose the type of meat that you want (believe me, there're heaps to choose from), the will come out with it, displayed on a wooden chopping board for you to see. After the gas-charcoal powered grill is prepped and ready, they will grill the meat (or meats 😁) in front of you and even give you a suggestion on how the meat should be cooked (rare, medium-rare or medium). I urge you to just follow their suggestion...these guys really know what there're doing 😋. After its grilled and sliced, you have 3 options of salt to eat them with, the pink salt, herbed salt and truffle salt.
Although I've been rambling about their steaks, Misuji's other menus are not something you should pass. In fact, they are also unbelievebly delicious. For instance The grilled bone marrow with corn, soft shell crab sushi, seafood spicy ramen, cawan mushi, escargot served with toast, chicken teriyaki............even their salad is darn scrumptious.
If you still have room left after all that feast, try their desert. As you can see from my photos, not only that the presentations are very interesting, but they are also perfect to end the meal.
If you're into Japanese cuisine, give them a try. They really do not disappoint, serve you kindly and will even make you and your family want to vome...
