🍣 A Sushi Fix at Sushi Hiro, Pondok Indah Mall
Sushi Hiro continues to be one of our favorite go-to spots for Japanese food in the city — consistent quality, fresh ingredients, and that familiar cozy vibe that keeps us coming back.
Here’s what we tried during our latest visit:
🍣 Salmon Chirashi Beautifully presented and delightfully fresh. Every slice of salmon melts in your mouth. That said, the portion size felt a bit small for an adult — would be perfect as a light lunch or shared starter.
🍗 Chicken Nanban A flavorful start, but we couldn’t finish it. The chicken was tasty, but the portion felt dense, and the plate came with too much tartar sauce — and oddly, the sauce was placed on top of the rice instead of just on the chicken. In Japan, it’s usually served directly on the chicken to balance the flavors better. This one could shine more with a slight tweak in presentation.
🍣 Salmon Roll A classic that never fails. Fresh, balanced, and perfect for sharing. This one’s always a safe (and delicious) bet.
🍵 Hot Ocha Warm, comforting, and free-flowing. Exactly what you need to round off a sushi meal.
🌟 Overall Vibe Fresh sushi, cozy ambiance, and reliable menu choices. Sushi Hiro rarely misses, and this visit was no exception. It’s a solid pick when you’re craving well-executed Japanese food in a mall setting.
💬 Would I come...
Read moreI went to Sushi Hiro in Pondok Indah Mall on a Saturday night, and as expected, there was a waiting list. The waiting list was fine, but once we were seated, we felt that the service needed improvement. The restaurant layout is kind of long towards the back in an L shape, so guests at the back are somewhat blocked from the front. In our opinion, the issue lies with the service. It seemed like the staff were either short-handed or something, so everything took a long time. Calling the waitress, food serving, refills, and asking for the bill all took a long time, even though it wasn’t very crowded when we arrived. There was no more waiting list because it was close to closing time, and we were the last on the waiting list.
Given the L-shaped layout of Sushi Hiro here, there should be a staff member stationed in the middle to accommodate the guests in the back. However, it seemed like they were short-staffed at the time, so there was no one stationed in the middle. As a result, we and some other guests at the back had to stand up and look around to call the staff just to ask for a refill or the bill. I think this is inefficient for both parties. Unfortunately, I have to give a low rating for the service at this Pondok Indah Mall branch. Hope the service will be better on weekdays time or...

-) Tamago Sashimi: Quite small (2 pieces) but taste good. 3/5
