I am glad that Kelapa Gading still has more space for a new tasty delicious asian fusion restaurant such as Mr Liam. Mr Liam, serves variety of asian dishes. First of all, the restaurant could occupy many especially on the second floor. While first floor offer a view to the glass window see through kitchen but with limited tables, second floor are more spacious. Don't expect much of interior design, plain simple clean. Service though, kinda lack of people (?), kinda slow and if you sit on the second floor, nobody stand by and you had to go downstair to call the waiters. Btw, not important, but the chef is handsome which make sense for the see through kitchen on the first floor :P
So I ordered The chicken nanban, crispy chicken karage, on top of scramble egg and this white sauce. Taste wise okay, but truthfully nothing special, in fact kinda bland for my taste. Had to combine it with the laksa broth which makes it has more taste.
The squid ink ramen (around IDR 70k), kinda skeptical afraid it might be too fishy, but surprisingly, not fishy at all. The broth has this uniqe taste like seafood broth but not fishy, it's light not thick, just enough taste, need to combine it with their slice smoky meat which makes it perfect taste. Generous with the portion and fillings, no complain.
Next is the Laksa (around IDR 75k), this is the best laksa I've ever tried, sweet creamy savory a lil bit spicy just a hint. Thick but smooth broth, and generous fillings, like had 3 big chunck of shrimp, with fishballs, and bee hoon, no complain at all.
Beef penang taste like rendang, that's it
Overall, I like their Laksa and Ramen, and intrigue to try more of their other menus. The only downside is the service, and some of their...
Read moreQuite ordinary on the outside, it was a pastry shop on the beginning then converted to a full restaurant which i’m glad the menu selection not disappointing at all.
We ordered: Pulled Pork Burger Buns tasted quite good and the chips not too salty to balance the already savory meat. The pulled pork sauce not too overpowering and balanced enough.
Singapore Laksa Soup tasted really good, but it uses soun instead of noodle, the combination works quite well and the topping was generous.
Dry Ramen Pork Noodle a bit standard, however the sauce really good, along with very big slice and thick of pork meat and full egg. It’s really pleasant to eat.
Chicken Nanban Rice Bowl This is really one of the hidden gem menu, the fried chicken really tender and crispy, it complements really well with the savory Gribiche sauce and the omelette like egg is very soft. The sauce also works very well with chips and pork slice.
Fried Coconut Ice Cream Another hidden gem of dessert, the combination of fried sweet crusty outside with the coconut ice cream inside blends superbly with the additional topping of pineapple, coconut jelly and coconut crispy.
Orange Fantasy Not expecting much since it was told using sunkist orange, however it turned out the combination of soda, oranges and mint leaves is very soft and refreshing. Not too sour and not too sweet, perfectly balanced.
Price wise it’s a bit expensive around 60-100k per person. Ambience really calming and the music selection really picked well for calming ambience.
Will sure come again some time later then.

Read moreWe popped into Mr Liam in Kelapa Gading for a second round—this time to explore beyond their Infamous Mie Laksa (still a knockout, with its thick, fragrant curry broth and just-right spicy kick). Here’s what else we loved:
Master Stock Pork Belly Recommended by our server, and for good reason: each slice almost melts on your tongue. The meat is butter-tender, richly infused with that sweet-savory masterstock sauce—it’s the kind of dish that makes you pause mid-bite and say, “Wow.”
Pad Thai This felt like a roadside stall in Bangkok. The noodles were springy, the tamarind tang and palm sugar sweetness danced together perfectly, and those crunchy bean sprouts added just enough texture. Bright, balanced, and utterly addictive.
Black Squid Ink Fried Rice A striking plate of jet-black rice studded with spicy, chewy squid bits. The flavor is subtle at first—then layers of garlic, chili, and ocean brininess hit you. It’s playful yet comforting, and definitely worth ordering.
All in all, Mr Liam delivers consistency and surprises in equal measure. From laksa to pork belly to pad Thai and beyond, every dish shows care in execution and bold, authentic flavors. Can’t wait to see what we’ll...
