Resto Pagi Sore Tebet South Jakarta June 2019
Ayam pop for 24 K IDR++ a piece (there are two in the picture). Yes, it kinda looks small, but it's really really really worth it. Trust me.
Ayam pop is chicken that is parboiled in coconut milk before being lightly fried to develop the flavours further and to give it that glistening look. The picture above uses #nofilter and theirs is arguably the best in town.
Now most people may already know Pagi Sore, they are clearly one of the best (i would argue THE best) mid range Padang restaurant chain in Jakarta. Their spaces are always clean and well maintained, they execute all their dishes well, they have relatively better trained staff than most, they have great staff to customer ratio, and their prices are still very acceptable for the level of quality and service they provide. That being said, one main gripe one could always launch at them is the fact that they are always packed, especially around common meal times. Oh, and don't expect to find easy parking, except for maybe their Cipete outlet.
Okay, on to the task at hand. They clearly serve a variety of really good dishes here, rarely do they come off as average or meh. But what really stands out, in my humble opinion, is their ayam pop. It is the softest chicken one can find and it is just oh so scrumptious that one is never enough. Top if off with the best ayam pop sauce around - what with its smoothness, slight spiciness, and slight tanginess - and you have yourself a winner.
Now don't get me wrong, their rendang, dendeng, prawn, and other dishes are also great, but - depending on your rendang or dendeng preferences - one might prefer some other chains. Thus why, to avoid impoverishing ones self, i would suggest that one orders a one dish meal to go or to get it delivered. Because i swear if you eat on the spot you will really dent your budget as they, sadly, will charge - somewhat exorbitantly - for the veggies and you might as well order the fancy drinks as even their hot unsweetened tea is 6 K++.
All in all, it is hands down the best ayam pop in town. A must visit.

This upscale restaurant offers a luxurious setting, perfect for enjoying a meal with family. The elegant ambiance and comfortable seating made us feel at home while providing a touch of sophistication.
The menu at Pagi Sore features a variety of delectable Padang dishes, all bursting with authentic flavors. We tried several dishes, and each one was better than the last. The standout for us was the Rendang, with its tender beef and rich, flavorful sauce. The Ayam Pop was another favorite, perfectly cooked and seasoned just right. We also enjoyed the Udang Tofu, which was succulent and delicious.
What sets Pagi Sore apart is not just the quality of the food but also the excellent service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and ensured we had a wonderful dining experience. The restaurant is also clean and well-maintained, adding to the overall pleasant atmosphere.

Read moreWent here on Saturday at 1.30 pm. Still very difficult to find a parking space. It was packed and we were told we're number 5 in the waiting list. But since our group was quite a lot about 13 people, we got the seat earlier than expected.
We were seated at the 2nd floor not far from the musholla. They help arranged the table so we sit close from each other. They start put down all the food and desserts. Rendang was nice, grilled chicken was ok, the green chilli was also nice as well as the tunjang. All the beverages was up to the expectation. They charge even for the hot plain unsweetened tea. There was this small green jelly dessert in a small plastic cup, it was mid. But the other dessert with with bisuit crumbled at the bottom was nice. There were a few people came late, and the staff replace the rice that started to go cold and replace it with a new warm one. Very thoughtful.
Went to the bathroom and musholla, it was exceptionally clean and well maintained. They provide sandals and the mukenah...
