Pizza Place - Como Park, Kemang — Restaurant in Jakarta

Update: I think they changed their cheese - the cheese is more of a lower quality one. Also their dough is not as crunchy and more chewy now. That NY crunch is gone. Had to change from 5 to 4 stars 😔. I'm hoping it is temporary...But still a great slice.

I'm from New York, I grew up eating NY pizza, and now living in Asia I make my own. I search near and far for any pizza places that call themselves "New York pizza" and I try all of them, but 95% of the time, they should not be attaching the "New York" name to their pizza. Walking into the place, it smelled like a new york pizzeria and looking at the place it suggested the owner lived in NY or knows quite a bit about it. Taking a bite of the cheese slice (real ny pizza is mostly eaten just plain cheese!) told me the owner knows how a NY slice should taste like. Probably one of the best NY pizzas I've had not just in Jakarta, but ANYWHERE outside of NY. The Sicilian is just ok, but the cheese slice is legit. White ricotta also tasted well in my palate. The place is a bit hidden in the back part of Como Park, you can enter through neon signed-door below the stairs or side door passing Footurama. The crowd are usually packed in the weekend, as peeps like to bring their canine to play at the backyard while they're enjoying pizza and coffee around. As they made it fresh from the oven, prepare to wait a little when your fave pizza is on progress, but no worries because it's worth the while. Better give a call to save your slice if you want to buy full pan. Are you kidding me??? If Pizza Place can be found just as frequent as you can find Indomaret/Alfamart around Jakarta, ya'll will really drain my life savings out! Definitely the best pizza joint nationwide. Two slices are enough for a biggie like me but if you're wondering which tastes best, I'd suggest trying Pesto and the classics like Pepperoni/Cheese. Disappointed not being able to try some of the menu for 2 times in a row though because they're always sold out (good thing for ya'll, cheers!). And the price? 30ish for a slice is a good deal, but wait till you really understand what I mean by a good deal! Pizza slice so big, you'll need to add an IKEA shipping cost to every purchase. The place is a little small, but simple, it's the kind of place where you get a slice and get going. But you can still hang around Como Park, and sit around the grass near the Dog's park.
