Rumah Makan Mekar Jaya — Restaurant in Jakarta

I went here after a workout and my outfit is okay but not the most flattering thing, and I noticed that the cashier (old, thin man) is lowkey rude to me. I order a takeout and since I only had egg (telor dadar) that day, my bill was 19k, I asked if I can pay with QRIS, and the cashier said, the minimum is 30k. I thought oh okay, there was no such thing written anywhere so I look around to find other thing to order and just 'basa basi' asked him what kind of QRIS do they use that has minimum requirement, because it's not super common. But he was offended and said "Saya di sini jadi kasir udah dari lama, saya yang tahu minimalnya memang 30ribu". What a stupid answer, but anyway, I ended up just double my order because I don't want to start another small talk with that small man, and as I was trying to do the payment on my phone, that hell boy is trying (repeatedly) to look at my phone, like he was worried that I will lie or something. I was so uncomfortable. I don't dress fancy because I just finished my workout but do I look like a homeless woman to that man??

That was not my first time ordering food there, but that is definitely my last. The first time I went there the cashier was a woman and seems normal and okay. But the second time there I had to meet that horrible creature, ew. Anyway, the guy who prepared for my take out is actually nice, he actually smile and recognized me the second time I went there.

As for food, it's not bad but the price does kinda make you expect something better. For the price, it's pretty normal for a resto that big and for the generous portion they give.

The one thing that really bother me is that cashier guy who seems like treating people based on how they look. Sir, I'm a paying customer, my bill is only 38k, I can afford that, no need...

Malem malem laper ngidam nasi padang? Tenaang gaes, kita bisa ke sini nih soalnya buka 24 jam wkwk.

Patokannya deket bank BRI mampang, jadi gampang gaes, bisa ambil duit dulu biar yakin yaa wakakak.

Begitu masuk beuh luas banget, rapi, kursi n mejanya banyak. Keknya cocok ini klo buat nikahan disini mah.

Oia disini menunya lumayan beda dari padangs laennya. Rendang, tunjang udah biasa, disini ada ikan bilis ama belut gaess.

Jadi kemaren coba :

Nasi rendang Baru mau makan uda ngeh disini naspad nya bedaa. Gapake sayur nangka (gatau karena abis) tapi pake sayur wortel ama kol.

Bumbu rendangnya warna coklat muda. Jadi buat temen temen yang ngarep bumbu rendang item, bukan disini fergusoo wkwk. Daging rendangnya itungannya empuk banget bangett, warna daging dalemnya terang. Mungkin karena emg ga dimasak ampe item. Nah rasa rendangnya ini tipikal rendang yang asin ya gaes tapi gak terlalu berempah, jadi cocok dah buat siapa aja. Eia btw nasinya kek pulen disini tuh.

Cabe ijonya sedikit asem seger, tapi kek ga mirip cabe ijo di tempat laen. Apa ya bilangnyaa 🤔😂.

Belut Nah ini bedanya nih. Belut disini juga bentukannya tuh diiket terus digoreng. Jadi ada bagian yg krispi kering n bagian tengah yang diiketnya itu ga terlalu kering. Rasanya ya gurih ya gaes. Cocok lah dimakan pake sambel n kuah wkwk

Ikan bilis Btw sebelomnya gatau ikan bilis apaan wkwk. Tapi dari bentukannya mirip bayi ikan nila ato ikan mas. Nah porsi ikan bilis ini isinya ada ikan kecilnya, sambel ijo, ama potongan jengkol. Iya bner potongan jengkol gaes wakakak. Cuman sambel yang disini ga pedes n berminyak bgt. N jengkolnya aga keras juga, tapi ga bau (kalo pas pipi*snya besok sih pasti tetep bau ya gaes 😂)

Overall nih nasi padang unik beda dari naspad yang laen ya gaes. Rekomended buat kalian coba. Cuman kalo saya sih belum cocok ama rendang dan sambel ijonya, mau nya cari yang rendang...

i have several favourite rumah makan padang in this city and mekar jaya is in my top five. they serve solid authentic padangnese dishes, my go-to being ikan bilis, ayam rendang, singkong tumbuk, and jangek kuah gulai. the staff is friendly, the place (including its toilet) is generally clean, and one big plus is that they're open 24 hours. my friends and i often come here to eat and hang out at different times of the day. it's just nice to know that we could stay as long as we need to. and, even after a long meal, the damage is still very, very reasonable. i've come back a lot of times and will...
