I stayed at Mercure Gatot Subroto as part of the 5-day quarantining requirement post- international travel.
While the hotel + amenities are new, the room is clean, and the staff are courteous, I had a bad check-in experience and got food poisoning at one point during my stay.
As far as the check-in process goes, I was nearly double-charged for my stay. Not sure why my reservation didn’t reflect the fact that full payment had already been made. It seems like there’s a lack of coordination between staff members and the reservation system.
Another check-in related mishap is my initially assigned room was on a smoking floor. The smell was so strong and noticeable from the moment I stepped out of the elevator and through the mask I was wearing. The room itself was hardly any better. That said, giving credit where it’s due, the staff had promptly accommodated my request for a switch up to a non-smoking room and floor.
Finally, the repatriation package included 3x daily meals, which almost always arrived at the room lukewarm. In fact, it seemed like the meals had been prepped and sitting out for awhile. I opted for the Asian menu and got a pretty bad case of food poisoning on the second day of my stay. I’m disappointed that the staff weren’t able to provide over-the-counter remedy, which is strange considering how it’s hosting quarantining travelers. Every establishment should at least have a First Aid kit readily available.
All in all, I get the impression that the hotel is short staffed. It takes ages for them to remove the empty plates sitting in the hallways and it’s not so easy to get a hold of them on the phone either, especially the front desk folks.
Honestly, I normally wouldn’t complain as much, but my understanding is that this establishment is part of an international 4-star chain, so there are certain expectations as far as service goes, and that this should approximately reflect the amount of money travelers have had to dish out...
Read moreIt may not seem fair to review (or critique) a hotel amidst this pandemic but our experience after just a few hour in this hotel, I just can't.
We're here for my cousin's wedding, our family booked a few rooms. I stayed with my husband and children.
We tried the pool which was hazardous for children. there's no kiddie pool! They only have 1 rectangular pool 120cm deep. Too deep for children, too shallow for adult to really swim. It's as if the pool was built just so they can say "we have a pool!'.
The room is pretty good, spacious enough. Bed and pillows, super comfy. Can definitely hear the next room, loud and clear. The door is so heavy, it's pretty hard to open. Wifi connection is excellent. The window is pretty wide so we get a good view of the city. So good that at night we could really hear the city, woke up a few times even because of the sound. We're on the 29th floor by the way. The concept of the bathroom is good, amenities so so. Water pressure's not to be desired, so is the hot water. Sometimes the water is too hot, sometimes it's too cold. Is this some kind of water therapy, where you get cold-hot water treatment to soothe fatigue?
Hotel service, I expected more from an accor chain hotel. Lack of banquet staff during our event, as you can see in my picture. We had to get our own food even though it is not an open buffet. Can't find someone to help me make coffee (forgive me for not being able to use your espresso macine).
Food taste: kebuli rice really bland, rice too mushy, and is kebuli rice suppose to be that cold? Love the lamian.
Overall, ok experience. I'm not sure I'll be coming back anytime...
Read moreIt's a great hotel with modern themes, and affordable price. The room is spacious and nice. And the food was GREAT too.
But, same like the other review I read, I stayed at privilege room too and I ALWAYS had to ask for them to refill the minibar and coffee capsules. Why they didn't do it in the first place when they cleaned my room?
And also my husband already asked for CONNECTING ROOM from the very first we booked the hotel (we CALLED the hotel). Yet when we arrived we can't have a connecting room because the other room is already filled by other guest. Then why are you giving that "guest" our connecting room when we already asked for it, when the other "guest" doesn't need connecting room????
EDIT: Stay for 5 nights again just today (the 5th day) Got a bad experience, WITH THE RECEPTIONIST, AGAIN. We got 2 different reservation (1 is extend the night), we got informed when we checked in to ONLY UPDATE THE CARD. But we asked to stay in a different room, and their excuse is because the first reservation is we asked for single bed and the second is twin bed (while we already slept for 4 nights in twin beds). Oh, excuses excuses. Finally after some argument and invitation to LOOK AT OUR BED, we don’t have to change room. Whyyy it’s always the receptionists?!!?!! I really love this hotel, but maannn, it’s always have something to...
