SANTHAI — Restaurant in Jakarta

Located at lower ground of Kota Kasablanka, this place had a very lively interior that reminded me of a cozy restaurant in Bangkok. Actually the reason that I came here is to try the mango sticky rice kakigori, which reminded me of After You at Bangkok. But sadly it was sold out due to the mango sauce.

I tried several menus such as:

Fish skin papaya salad. I must say that I've been a fan of somtam and the this version is actually good and fresh. Fish skin is also very nice. I highly reccommend the papaya salad!

Tomyum surprise - seafood. I must say that the tomyum taste is not so authentic as in Thai and the seafood comes with a small portion. I am not really reccommending this menu tbh.

Pineapple fried rice. Oho, this is also another not recommended list from me. The taste is just okay and not that impressive.

Chicken green curry. The curry is okay and chicken comes in enough portion, or maybe since I ordered too much for 2 persons only. Overall green curry is okay.

Mango sticky rice. Well only one thing that is lacking, where is the sesame seeds??? But other than that, this is soooo nice. I like the decoration also.

Thai milk tea. You can't miss to order the signature drink since Thai restaurant must have such an authentic milk tea to be acknowledged as a real Thai restaurant. And yes, it tastes as exactly as I had in Bangkok. It made me missing the...

This will be one of my favorite thai food restaurants. The taste just right for me.

The place was nice, they got indoor and outdoor. So for you smokers, you'll have a place here 😁. Wasn't that big, pretty small, it just means you might need to wait when it's packed. All the decorations and the the theme they chose was good, makes a relaxing ambience.

For the food. This was it for me. They seasoned it well from my opinion. You'll get the sour and spice as expected from thai food. You'll also can get savoury and sweet on their menu. The green curry was a must try for me. And try all their specialties or favorite. Next time I'm coming, i'll like to try their salmon head with green curry. I bet it will taste great. And you'll get a swan shape balloon when you order their thai tea.

The wait for the food was just about right. Not too long, and not too fast that could make you wonder if they really cooked it or an old food heated up in microwave.

Service was a bit odd — 1 person always shouted at the front “silahkan thai foodnya” and it got really annoying and loud for those sitting in the front seating area. Appetizer arrived the latest. Ordered the bangkok beef and the meat was not hot, just luke warm as if it’s been sitting in the kitchen for a long time. The taste was awesome though, sauce was spicy, sour and savory. Portion is rather small for the price especially for the lime leaf fried rice. Fish skin tasted great especially the sauce. Thai iced tea was good but a bit too sweet for me. The ornaments on their ceiling also accumulated dust, that’s why I asked to move to the table in the front as I’m allergic to dust. However, seating area in the front lacked AC, hence it was kind of hot seating there. I don’t think I’ll come back despite the delicious taste...
