The Social Pot Kota Kasablanka — Restaurant in Jakarta

It's decent, I guess. Food tastes nice. The meat slices mostly are not too fatty so you won't get throw up if you ordered plenty. This is a really good plus side to me. Although the slice is a bit too thin so you're going to order a lot if you have large appetite.

For the sides, their caramel pudding is really nice. Snacks/appetizers are nothing special, a bit too spicy for my taste even the chicken mentai. Dumplings are decent. In a la carte you can order the obviously nice prime meat, in addition to that there's also a duck meat which is quite good.

The AYCE set is affordable (Rp 175.000), can be combined with a la carte. Time limit is 90 minutes, unless you order the cheaper one (Rp 150.000, 60 minutes). Be mindful that the soup is shared, and the pot is quite odd since it's in the pan where you grill (see photos from other reviewers).

Here comes the not-so-good part: there's no reminder if you're nearing your time limit. Staff will come to you saying "time's up" and you can no longer order anything. So you have to track the time yourself. The place is also quite busy, and small, so staff don't pay much attention to you. You have to remind them once in a while if what you ordered didn't get served - considering the time constraint, that's not the most pleasant experience.

Staff's product knowledge is a bit lacking too. I asked staff about a menu called "hanging meat" and what distinguishes it from the others, and they can't answer it (giving different answer like this one is ready to grill, the other is marinated - of course, I can already see that!).

The Social Pot menawarkan shabu & grill dalam satu hotpot dengan konsep casual dining, ambience resto juga terkesan kekinian, warna biru pastel mendominasi seating area, lengkap dengan neon sign di dindingnya.

Dekat area masuk, ada meja display yang memajang 23 jenis sauce untuk celupan shabu maupun grill, bebas pilih dan racik sendiri, tapi saya percayakan staffnya yang racikin, katanya ada perpaduan thailand sauce, fresh garlic, japanese yakiniku sauce, wansui, green onion, sesame paste, fresh chilli, mala sauce, sesame oil, The Best lah.

Begitu order makanan, staffnya menawarkan 5 pilihan soup untuk kuah shabu, tidak umum, tapi semuanya unik dan enak, ada chicken herbal soup, mala spicy soup, soto soup, tom yum, chicken collagen. Saya pilih mala spicy soup, kaya rasa dan pedas rempah, seger, cocok buat semua bahan shabu.

Set Menu Special, plattingnya kece, isiannya komplit, buat makan rame-rame seru banget. Dengan pilihan kuah satu macam, menu ini punya hanging US beef, beef short plate, yang fresh dan di sliced saat itu juga, jadi harap maklum kalau penyajiannya sedikit agak lama. Tekstur dagingnya lembut, sedikit berlemak dan terasa nikmat. Selain itu ada marinated chicken, prawn segar yang bisa di grill atau dicelup ke kuah, aneka meatballs homemade yang gurih, wonton lembut, juga noodles. Semuanya enak dan memuaskan, apalagi seafood paste alias cincangan seafood, bikin nagih, rasa seafood cincangnya masih terasa kasar di mulut, enak. Marinated short ribs dan imported lamb shoulder ngga boleh dilewatkan, menurut saya lamb shoulder disini terbaik, cocok dengan selera saya yang suka daging lamb yang agak beraroma dan sedikit chewy.

Meskipun dalam set menu sudah ada mienya, tapi Three Kingdom Noodle layak diorder. Tiga varian mie yang disajikan menarik, ada mie hijau yang terbuat dari campuran sawi, mie oranye yang terbuat dari wortel dan mie original. Semuanya homemade, begitu kena kuah panas langsung licin. Penasaran dengan karbo lain, ada Fried Garlic Rice yang gurih, bertabur bawang putih goreng, ada sensasi sedikit pahit khas bawang putih, saya suka sekali sama nasi goreng putihnya.

Fried Beancurd Roll, bisa dijadikan appetizer maupun teman makan shabu/grill. Kembang tahu roll ini renyah, tampilannya lebih menyerupai pangsit, rasanya sedikit asin.

Minuman Lemonsquash, dipilih anak saya karena rasanya segar, cocok buat habis makan...

This underrated place is VERY GOOD, beyond my expectation. First time here, we choose a la carte menu as we didn’t want to eat too much if we choose all you can eat menu.

We choose chicken collagen & tom yum, and the tase is so delicious with a very affordable price. The shabu meat is fresh and it contains 10 slices of thick beef. Yummy. We also order black fungus mushroom, meatballs, beaf with enokki, caisim, and I can say it all very pleasing into my mouth.

We also can have sauces for free and I choose suki sauce & thailand sauce. Again, it all just very good in my mouth.

The staff is very friendly, helpful and fast in assisting us (highest appreciation to Mas Yazid as the trainee, and Mas Zay).

Over all, we are very satisfy and definitely will come back...
