Lowkey one of the worst experiences I've had in Jakarta. Don't get me wrong, the food was absolutely amazing; I've been to this Remboelan and several other locations many times. The servers were nice—that's all. That being said, they weren't very informative, knowledgeable, or good at explaining details to customers.
We sat down after waiting for 60+ minutes and started to choose the food but were constantly distracted by the amount of add-ons they offered (like kerupuk and other snacks), which made the ordering process much longer. There were six of us (four adults and two toddlers), but we were only given one menu book when we ordered. They did give us a QR code later without any explanation that it was an online menu. We ordered four portions of rice, thinking they would be on separate plates, but they were served in one huge jar. While that was okay, the server who brought the rice was rude. He said, "Why didn't you request the rice to be separated?" We had no idea that was even an option. I personally ordered the cumi goreng tepung (fried squid), but the server mistakenly put in ayam goreng tepung (fried chicken). When I complained, she said, "Oh, I repeated the order and you didn't say anything." I know it was partially my mistake for not paying attention because I was in the middle of a conversation, was extremely hungry, and her friends kept distracting us.
We tried to keep the atmosphere nice and friendly because it was a reunion dinner with friends I hadn't seen in two years. I know they possibly had a long shift since it was a weekend, but they could...
Read moreVisited Remboelan Kota Kasablanka for dinner. Let's start introducing my orders. First menu is Empal Kelem Jawa Roro Ayu (Javanese style shredded slow cooked beef) which is tasty and totally recommended this one. Second menu is Sate Sambal Matah Uluwatu using beef meat (marinated beef satay topped with Balinese "sambal matah"). Move to third menu which is Tahu Isi Udang Lembang (fried bean curd stuffed with vegetable and prawn, served with sweet chilli sauce). Next, forth menu which is Gurame Parape Ujung Pandang (gourami fish topped with "Parape" sauce). Fifth menu that I ordered is Kangkung Bumbu Terasi (stir-fried "Kangkung" vegetables cooked with house special sauce). Last dish menu, which is sixth menu is Soto Betawi (Betawi (Jakarta) style coconut beef stew, served with "sambal cuka" and "melinjo crackers). For dessert, I also ordered Es Campur Remboelan (shredded ice with combination of jackfruit, fermented cassava, sugar palm fruit, coconut meat, jelly, avocado, and black grass jelly with manalagi syrup and condensed milk) which is mark the seventh menu. Overall for Remboelan, i'm gonna rate them 4.5 out of 5. For more info about foods, kindly visit...
Read moreI often eat at Remboelan, and I've tried it in several malls. Frankly, the Remboelan at Kokas is quite disappointing, in terms of management.
Trying to eat here during "buka" to break my fast was a headache. Reservations are full, so you would have to waitlist. I came at 4 and there were already 16 people on the waitlist. The lady at the front told me they'd start calling out at +/- 7pm. We came early and waited from 6.30pm. Good thing we came early because they'd already started calling.
Table management was very bad. I came here with 7 people and they only allpwed two of us to sit at the table first because of "restrictions" (table of 4 allows 2people, table of 8 allows 4). However, the rules seem to different if you eat in the resto amd on the terras area. I observed inside the rwsto and there was a table of 4 with 3 people. But if you eat on the terras it's more visible from the outside open area, so they restricted the table of 4 to 2 people. Very inconsistent.
Food was...
