So far the best manadonese food that I have tried.
I ordered Ikan ayam-ayam bakar rica, and the rica sambal is heavenly, it is spicy yet savory and sweet, a perfect balance between those 3 tastes. And the fish is perfectly grilled, not fishy at all, the texture of the fish meat is firm yet soft, and the sambal rica seeps right through the meat, which is very very very good.
Second nasi goreng cakalang, served with an omurice style, nasi goreng with omelete blanket, with shredded cakalang on top of it. The nasi goreng alone is pretty nice, well seasoned, and it is perfect when combined with the cakalang and the egg, Oh and a top tip, mix the nasi goreng with sambel rica, it is one of the best tasting nasi goreng that i have ever tried.
Third bakwan jagung, like most people said, it is their best menu here, and I do agree with them, it is filled with corn and just joined with some flour, unlike other bakwan. The corn is very cripsy and well seasoned, not too salty and not too sweet, it is just perfectly crisp.
Fourth, bunga paya with kangkung, the bunga paya is a bit too bitter for me though but it is still great nonetheless.
Fifth, panada, the bread is quite thick, but compensated well with the cakalang inside, which is a lot.
For the place, it is actually inside a house so it feels quite cramped although there are lots of seatings and there are tables for groups. It feels homy and nice, well it is inside a house, but one problem is parking, you might have to resort to street parking, which can be a problem on weekdays, as they only have officially 3 space for cars.
Service, it is quite good, the food was fast to be served, and the waitresses are quite friendly, and they do have a nice and well...
Read moreThe food makes up for all the services inconvenience here. The place itself is a bit small. It does not help that they try to cramp as many seatings in one area as possible. The 2nd floor was more spacious, when I asked if we can sit there because the first floor was a bit cramped and we're still in the middle of pandemic, they said the 2nd floor cannot be accessed because it's under maintenance. But then when more people started coming they offer them the 2nd floor.
I couldn't finish my meal and decided to take them home. It was the amazing corn fritters and fried ikan cakalang. Asked for the dabu-dabu to be included as well but they said that it might go bad on the way so they cannot provide. OH COME ON. Just tell me that I needed to pay extra instead of saying things like that like you assume I would not want to buy it. If you tell me I need to buy, I'll definitely put in a purchase. In other Sarang Oci outlets, we definitely get the dabu-dabu as extra when taking away left overs. I was too lazy to argue with them and just get the hell asap from there. I regretted dining in there and decided that next time it's better to just order takeouts from here so I don't have to feel disappointed by the service.
The parking? Oh my god don't...
Read moreThe flavors of traditional dishes like Ikan Woku and Ayam Rica-Rica are spot on and bring back fond memories of home.
The staff are attentive and always ready to offer recommendations or assist with any needs. This level of service really enhances the dining experience.
While most of the time, the food is delicious and well-prepared, there have been instances where the dishes were either too salty or not as fresh as expected.
The authentic flavors, cozy ambiance, and friendly staff make it a place worth visiting. Addressing the price and quality consistency issues would elevate it even further, making it a top choice for Manado cuisine in Kebon Jeruk. However, be prepared for potential waits and parking issues...
