I am really not sure how I should rate this restaurant.
On one hand, the restaurant has a very cozy, homemade feel to it. It's a small joint, perhaps a little bit cramped, maintained by uncles and aunts with bright smiles and big hearts, albeit with an obvious tiredness on their face. The staff are kind, friendly, and always try to be helpful. The small Japanese bar type design makes dining here feels quite personal. Perhaps in less busy hours you could spend some time to chat with the kind personnel.
However... on the other hand... I'm not sure about the food.
We went with the salmon sashimi promo. The fish quality isn't the greatest. They serve relatively thick slices, yes. But it feels like the meat has stayed overnight, with a rather damp taste and a certain dryness that prevents salmon's oily character to stand out. The shoyu is also a bit too salty to my taste; that it feels like the saltiness acts as a substitute to the rich savory flavor that salmon usually is supposed to offer.
The sushi rolls could also be improved more. Ordered the cheese and volcano ones. The volcano is a bit disappointing, as I can only get a glimpse of salmon there, replaced by an overwhelmingly spicy spin to the fried roll. The grilled cheddar cheese rolls is better, but kinda lacks the milky taste and doesn't quite blend well with the salmon underneath.
I think the price could be relatively cheaper, as I'd say this has a more budget sushi/sashmi taste but with the usual average/middle price range. If you're living nearby, I guess this could be a decent hangout place just for the vibes. But it's not...

Read moreTo start it off, I met a lot of familliar faces here. Other than that, the food and beverages are really tasty and well made. I'll have to reccomend the salmon truffle sushi, it's my favorite dish here and it's definitely worth the price! As for the place itself, it is pretty small and it'll feel really cramped if it was crowded, so I definitely reccomend going here when it's not so crowded. I'll give this place a 5 stars rating since I did not experience a...
