If you are looking for an authentic Indonesian restaurant with a nostalgic vibe and a modern twist, Smriti is the place to go. Located in central Jakarta, Smriti offers a variety of dishes that are deeply rooted in Indonesian gastronomy and heritage. The restaurant is housed in a renovated building that retains its old-school facade, but surprises you with its spacious and elegant interior. You can choose from different seating options, such as the intimate bar, the private rooms, or the tropical outdoor space.

Some of the dishes that I recommend are:

Tuna Asem Udeng: A refreshing appetizer of raw tuna cubes with exotic spices and herbs. Steak Saus Rendang: A juicy steak with a rich and spicy rendang sauce. The portion is generous and can be shared by two or three people. Klepon Cake: A sweet and creamy dessert that resembles the traditional klepon snack, with coconut and palm sugar filling.

The service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is cozy and relaxing. Smriti is a great place to visit with friends and family, and to create beautiful memories over...

Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Smriti Jakarta! Didn’t know what to expect inside from the unassuming facade. Every dish we ordered was delicious - we had the Tahu Malabar, Ikan Bakar Pariaman, Udang Bakar Saus Madu, Terong Raos Kulit Tangkil, and a salmon dish whose name I forgot. Oh and not to forget, two slices of their signature Klepon Cake which was a really delightful treat of different flavours (coconut, pandan, white chocolate) and I especially liked the ‘lidah kucing’ biscuit.

The ambience was enjoyable, mood lighting, not too noisy nor crowded, with sufficient space between the tables. It was also really nice to meet head chef Indra who came to chat with us and check that the food was alright.

Will be back again! 👍🏻

(A note on parking: there’s enough parking space for about four cars in front, but they do offer valet service...

Huge edit: i came to Smriti again after a great first experience. And out of the 6 items we tried to order, FOUR items are not available to be ordered. Reason being, no stock since they just had an event. This is hugely disappointing. Either cut down your menu, or be professional with stocking up your kitchen.

I absolutely adored this place! The food, the service, the ambience were just top notched. As an Indonesia, it hasn't been easy to find Indonesian restaurant that blows my mind 😂.. This one certainly did. The ingredients were quite unique, yet it doesnt deviate too much from the basic principles of Indonesian cuisine. Really appreciate the creativity and care put into to dishes. Not to mention, the place is so pretty! I loved that they use an old building as their venue and renovated it without...

Food: all the menus we ordered were delicious! It’s tasty, well seasoned and the sambals are punchy. My favorite is the grilled barramundi. Drink: Mark & Rita - off the menu cocktail served with a (licorice?) lollipop. Sweet and refreshing! Service: Great service, our server Putri was very attentive. Ambience: It’s a bit too dark and traditional vibes for my likings, and there isn’t any space between tables which across of each other, the chairs seems rather bulky. Music was a bit too loud (asked them to tone down and they did), the restaurant might want to consider instrumental jazzy type of music that does not intrude the guests conversations. Great for family gathering, they have larger tables and spaces for this. Also has karaoke room upstairs for hosting gathering with colleagues/ business partners.
