The place is hot and humid. Not a comfortable place to eat, but the food is excellent. I recommend the chicken sroto with the works (ati ampela) but they are usually gone before lunch time is usually over. The broth is flavorful and the chicken skin adds a delightful crunch to the smooth broth. Pour some of that spicy peanut sauce on your spoon of sroto and slurp away. I don’t recommend pouring the sauce in the sroto because you’ll change the whole experience without being able to go back to the original broth. The mendoan is a must, it’s huge, one is enough to share for 2. I don’t recommend the chicken and beef sroto, the combination just doesn’t work for me. As they say, you can have it both ways. About the sroto itself, Sroto is a typical food of Banyumas or Sokaraja, it has fresh broth filled with chicken or beef, short bean sprouts and sprinkled with chopped spring onions and red crackers. It is eaten with ketupat or rice. This time, I choose sroto with beef meat. The taste was delicious but the lack is too oily. It will be perfect if it was not greasy. Sroto is actually a soup from beef stock consist of beef or chicken or mix with beans sprout and leek. Best to eat with rice.

There’s also Mendoan (made from tempe, soy bean fermented).

I’ve been eating Sroto in this place since i was in elementary school.

Since i’m Javanese, i often eager to eat javanese food. So, if you want to eat Sroto in Jakarta, this is the best place to eat Sroto in town.

The price is fair. Its about IDR 40K per person for a plate of Sroto, rice and hot tea.
