This restaurant opened ages a go. I still remember coming here when I was in high school. We are around the area and decide to revisit this restaurant today. The restaurant is empty, before it was fully packed, Today we even get our table at the balcony easily, which was very hard to get back then. But then again we come in the afternoon on a weekday, the crowd might be slower than the weekends. Service is average, the waiters are attentive. However the food come a bit slow. We ordered chicken and shrimp parmigiani, tiramisu and zupa soup. As the food arrived, we are quick to be disappointed by the plating of the chicken steak, they put a lot of side dish that in my opinion is not complementing the main dish at all. They put fruit salad together with the chicken, and the ginger sauce is too spicy and it is not worth the price. We did ask the waiter for prawn's shell to be taken out, but when the food arrive, the shell is still there and they put breading over the shell, which doesn't make sense because you will have to get rid of the breading before consuming the prawn. Tiramisu is just average, there is a sign of date which indicate the day before , and I assume it was when they make the tiramisu, so based on that sign, I assume that the tiramisu is not fresh. Zupa soup is average as well, you will get nicer zupa soup with that price elsewhere. The view is stunning though, looking out to Bandung City will give you certain serenity. There are flies around, but then again, we are siting outside, and there is candles to help reducing the flies flying around your food. The price is very pricy, for a plate of chicken steak and a prawn is IDR 147k, get ready to spend more than IDR 200k to get a full meal here. In the past, this restaurant might worth my 4-5 stars, but today, the food is just not worth the price, considering there are several restaurant offering the same view but with better food with and lower price, I have to give 2 stars for our...
Read moreReady to dine at the highest spot in Bandung? The Valley Bistro Cafe definitely live up to their name, it sits nicely at the valley of Dago, overlooking the bustling city of Bandung. Unfortunately, that's just it.
The Valley offers selection of dishes from western, japanese, to oriental, i picked the combo platter, it consists of beef tenderloin steak, chicken cordon bleu, baked king prawn, and laughably tiny piece of sausage wrapped with beef bacon. It was nothing special to be honest, they are all kinda mid. The combo was completed with fruit salad, but i preferred the salad to be separated from the proteins.
The place is neat and nice, the highlight is of course the outdoor seatings. But the entire place screams outdated, from the menu book, utensils, and decors. They really need to take a look at the decor of cool dining places in Jakarta like GIOI, Monsieur Spoons, Common Grounds, or Eric Kayser, especially considering the price they charged you. One more thing, i don't think early 2000s pop songs is the right ambient for this kind of restaurant (or maybe i'm just at the very top of the playlist and there are nice selection of accoustic indies at the bottom)
The crew are friendly, nice, and pretty quick. In the end, you come to The Valley for the view...but you need to pay a lot for that...
Read moreOld cafe that was very famous and hits back then. The atmosphere is still good and the city view (if you are seated outdoor) is eyes pleasing.
Food is good in taste and I love the fact that they used real lemon (bunch of them) in their lemon tea. Misoshiru soup is kinda different and makes me wonder why they use bean sprout, goji berry and lotus seeds in it 😮
I think they are good in western food. So choose the western food selection if you are there. The combo platter is recommended.
I wish the staffs were more friendly. When we arrived, no one in concierge area. I wandered around the place without assistance or greeting. I asked the staff then she ased me to be in waiting list though I saw many empty tables there 😅
When we ordered food, the waiter also looked impatient. He kept asking us "done?". Well, there were 5 of us and we brought kids hence, so many things happened in the table that it was impolite to hurry us to order. It is not fast food restaurant anyway.
After the meal was out, I asked the one who looked like the manager in charge to take picture of us. I thought such person in charge will be more friendly and accomodating customets. Yet, he looked reluctant and coldly took picture of us. Kinda ruin the moment. Hope they could improve...
