We visited the much raved about Sunset Point ๐ here at Amed Bali.
Getting There โ You have to either drive ๐, ride ๐๏ธ or book a driver ๐ to bring you there. There is a huge parking ๐ ฟ๏ธ area, so you need not worry ๐ซถ about not having a place to park. It is peached on a rounding, next to the main road.
Security โ Has to be the best that I have seen after Hard Rock Care. There are security ๐ฎโโ๏ธ๐ฎ๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐ฎ๐ฝโโ๏ธ at the entrance, at the site itself and right down to the carpark controlling the In โฌ๏ธ and out โฌ๏ธ. These are jacked ๐ช and beefed ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ up dudes and not some skinny guys in security shirts. So, your safety โ๏ธ is already up ๐ a notch!
Tickets ๐๏ธ and Seats ๐ชโ At the entrance, you have to decide if you want to dine Buffet or Ala Carte ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ. Whichever you choose, will determine where you can sit. We didnโt choose the Buffet because the food list didnโt look fantastic ๐. We went with Ala Carte and sat above the infinity pool ๐. (See pics ๐ธ and video ๐น)
Staff ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ โ Friendly, spoke good English, carried lots of humour ๐! They walked ๐ถโโ๏ธus to the seating area and we read the menu off the QR code ๐ฒ and placed the orders with the waitress. Easy and Lovely!
Food โ Largely, Western food ๐๐๐๐๐ณ setting. It was nice but not exactly fantastic or awesome. It was just nice food to have with a cocktail ๐น๐ธand catch the sunset ๐ .
The view is just amazing and breathtaking. ๐ I will highly encourage you to go much earlier ๐ and not wait till it is too near to the actual sunset. You arrive, pick your food and seat, by then 30mins would have gone by. In fact, go early and spend the day in Infinity Pool and just chill. Wait for the sun ๐ to move down and pass the mountain ๐ป and itโs amazing ๐! The live ๐ธ๐ฅ๐ช๐ช๐บ๐ค band also got the crowd going well into the night ๐.
It was a very nice overall experience and I will highly encourage everyone to go by and visit...
ย ย ย Read more5 STARS for the view although there are several places around the area with a similar atmosphere. If you donโt mind spending money just for the view, then this is a good place.
1 STAR for the shtty rule: They require you to pay 125,000 advance deposit per person before you can go in. You canโt even check the place first or the menu if itโs really worth it. The unfriendly security guard or the reception will keep insisting you to pay deposit first. And oh, if you hate the smell of cigarette, avoid this place at all cost. Itโs a huge outdoor place but thereโs no section for non-smokers. Every dmn table has an ash tray. So yeah, we didnโt know this is the case since we were not allowed to see the place first until we pay the deposit, so we didnโt have a choice but to inhale the second hand smoke from cigarette and shisha smokers around us.
1 STAR for the girls at the entrance who probably have to work the dishes instead of being receptionists. The first day we came, they looked like they shallowed lemons. The second day the same, although we still proceeded since we really want to see the place.
3 STARS for the service. Balinese hospitality is missing, or maybe thatโs about it. Mediocre.
2 STARS for the cocktail, not drinkable. Well, I never had good cocktail in this part of Bali. I wonder why. If they canโt do it right, just stop selling it. Sell beer or shots. Enough. The fruit smoothie was good though, but also nothing special.
3 STARS for the food. Nothing special. Mediocre. It wasnโt expensive but not cheap either for Ahmed. Boring menu and not much...
ย ย ย Read moreIโm writing this with deep disappointment after experiencing unpleasant treatment not once, but twice at this place particularly from the security staff.
The first incident happened last year when my husbandโs family and I came by, intending to hang out. As we were trying to look around and get a feel for the place, we were immediately treated with suspicion and aggression, as if we were just there to take photos or not planning to order anything. It was disrespectful and uncalled for. Weโve visited many beach clubs and restaurants around Bali, and we always know how to behave and support the places we visit. But this was the first time we felt truly unwelcome, so we decided to leave.
Today, I gave the place another chance, hoping for a better experience. Sadly, the same rude security staff approached us again with the same negative attitude, and once again we felt like we didnโt belong. Even the rest of the staff were not welcoming or warm.
What makes this even more disappointing is the fact that Bali is globally known for its exceptional hospitality and friendly people, something weโve experienced everywhere else on the island. But unfortunately, we didnโt feel that at all here.
This repeated experience has left a very negative impression, and weโve decided we wonโt be supporting this place again. Even if our family or friends ask for recommendations in Amed, we will make sure not to recommend this establishment.
Respect and kindness should be the foundation of any hospitality business and unfortunately, this place has...
