Warung Pondok — Restaurant in Kecamatan Abang

My most beautiful Balinese experience! We went there for lunch, we were welcomed by the adorable mother who introduced us to these little puppies. She is a very good cook, the meal was delicious overlooking the sea too! The father came to spend some time with us and suggested a sea excursion to fish. We found him the next morning at sunrise, and we went fishing for Wahoo on his boat. We had never fished in our lives, he directly gave us the fishing rod and taught us, it's so coooool !! We returned to the beach around 10 a.m. he gave us an address to see the turtles while snorkeling, we went to swim with the turtles. And we came back for lunch to eat the Wahoo that we had caught that morning. TREMENDOUSLY GOOD 😍

We discovered this Warung two weeks ago and have been eating here almost daily ever since. The food is wonderful, as are the people working here! When ordering, one first receives a free plate of salty roasted peanuts which creates the real appéritive atmosphere. What follows is a big plate of deliciously sautéed vegetables, tender grilled chicken, sweet crispy chicken, delicious salsa's, pancakes, freshly catched fish and so much more. Each dish we had here was just amazing and so far we haven't found a dissapointing dish (and we went through most of the menu already). The people here are also so incredibly friendly and warm! They can even take you on a private fishing/snorkeling trip if you feel like it! The fisherman is very knowledgeable about the currents (good for safety!) and where to scuba dive to see...

I went there for dinner and one of my most memorable experience in Bali happened. This warung is run by a nice family and they treat me very friendly. I ordered grilled seafood which was very fresh and delicious. I had some casual conversations with Mangku about fishing in Amed and he arranged a fishing experience the morning after for me. I met him 6 am at the beach and we went for fishing with his boat. It was my first fishing experience ever and I managed to catch a fish. We came back to the warung and Mangku grilled the fish for me and offered me coffee and cakes. The whole experience was incredible and unforgettable.
