The Ocean’s Whisper – a stunning beachfront restaurant nestled along the main road of Amed, Karangasem, offering effortless access with an atmosphere that feels like a hidden paradise.
As you step inside, you’re greeted by a lush tropical garden, where frangipani and palm trees sway gently in the ocean breeze. The space blends indoor elegance with open-air freedom, featuring cozy bamboo lounges, draped sheer curtains, and romantic, sexy lighting—soft glowing lanterns, flickering candlelight, and fairy lights woven through the foliage. The sound of waves crashing nearby adds to the dreamy vibe.
The beachfront view is breathtaking—uninterrupted turquoise horizons, especially at sunset when the sky melts into hues of gold and pink. Whether you're here for a family feast, a corporate gathering, or an intimate wedding vow, the setting is pure magic. Imagine saying "I do" under a floral arch with the ocean as your witness, followed by a candlelit reception in their secluded garden pavilion.
The menu is a culinary journey, offering everything from fresh seafood grilled over coconut husks to authentic Balinese rijsttafel and international gourmet dishes. Their cocktails—infused with local herbs and tropical fruits—are a must-try.
But the surprises don’t end there. The restrooms are an art gallery featuring the striking portrait photography of Giovanna, my talented friend. Her unique ability to capture raw, emotional moments turns even this small space into a conversation starter. And then there’s the hand soap—a subtle blend of frangipani and clove, so distinctly Balinese that you’ll want to steal a bottle.
After a day of exploring Amed’s dive spots, Seraya’s hidden beaches, or the cultural gems of Candi Dasa, this is the ultimate place to unwind. The Ocean’s Whisper isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a sensory escape where every detail, from the garden’s whisper to Giovanna’s art, feels like it was made just for you.

Read moreI had the pleasure of eating here a few times during my stay in Candidasa, and I have to say what a God send it was to have this place right on my doorstep. This place is also a resort. However, I did not stay here, but I was allowed to use the restaurant as a paying customer. The restaurant layout was clean and had stunning views. There is the option of both indoor and outdoor seating, and regardless of your choice, you still get to take in the stunning views of the ocean and mountains. This place takes cash or a card, and the prices are very reasonable for food and drinks. I tried a few dishes, which were all tasty and freshly prepared!!! They have a traditional wood fired pizza oven, and the pizza was cooked to perfection. I also have the nasi goreng, and the mie goreng on other occasions, which were all perfect in every way!!! There is a great choice of food and drinks to cater for all tastes and an extensive alcohol and cocktail selection to choose from. The team here take so much pride in what they do, and we're welcoming and attentive. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a pleasant experience, and I couldn't thank them enough. I will definitely be returning here on my next holiday, and I highly recommend anybody visiting Candidasa to stop...

Also had an issue with one of the meals and the situation was handled really bad. Menu has “kankung with garlic” that we ordered as a side dish. It came out with full of chillis that tasted awful, so we didn’t eat. Other dishes we finished as we were so hungry. :( But was not tasty at all. (We saw other guests at a nearby table who also were just poking the food with the fork but didn’t like.)
After we finished eating the waiter came and asked what was the problem with the kangung. I told him 2 facts clearly: It was full of chillis that they didn’t note in the description on the menu. It tasted awful. We tried many places and elsewhere it was good. He said sorry twice and left to make the bill. Then we got the bill with the kangung on. What a bad-bad decision. Not wise. When we were leaving the place he couldn’t even look into our eyes. Goodbye forever. Choose Hungry Crocodile in the front,...
