Although I initially booked at the bungalows, I upgraded to the villas upon arrival. It’s a bit confusing as the place is listed as Bayshore Bungalows, Residence or Villas and in reality they are all the same property.
The villas are off to one side, the residence is in between and the bungalows are behind the entrance. All look well kept and are well appointed. As they are 3 separate properties it’s very possible that things like airco etc differ between them.
The grounds are meticulously kept and very beautiful. there are two pools. One near the restaurant and one at the villa ‘compound’. The latter is basically an infinity pool right at the beach. Loved it. Nice comfy chairs too. Everything spotless and well maintained.
The villa itself was amazing too. Way too big for just one person but if you’re with 2 couples or kids, it must be perfect. Especially for the price. Downside is that the airco in Villa 3’s bedroom isn’t quite up to the task, but they have ceiling fans as well. Main room airco works well. Bed is supercomfy but the bathroom could do with a new shower head. It’s a well appointed bathroom and that one feature sort of brings it down a notch. Nitpicking though, considering the price. Overal it had a sort of French farmhouse feel in Bali vibe which I really liked.
Breakfast is amazing. Not a buffet but made to order. Lots of attention given to the presentation. Food in general was either ok or fantastic. Bit strange. Maybe it depended which chef was on duty. Best crème brûlée I ate outside of France in a while. Very nice carbonara. Good local options but also some misses. Lots of restaurants within easy walking distance though. And I do mean easy.
Staff are amazing and they will try and go the extra mile. Internet is fast and stable. Noise isolation is great. Watching the waves and the beach is fantastic. Some annoying beach vendors (very rarely) but hey: it’s Bali.
I’ve read some reviews saying internet wasn’t great but I had no complaints. Worked every time and was fast.
Only caveat is the bungalow I was originally assigned (it’s a 2 br one) was sold to me as a free upgrade but it really wasn’t. No windows to an actual outside and it felt like a catacomb. All others looked amazing though. Avoid that...

Read moreHave been visiting Bali since the early 70's (went as a child :) but this was the first time I have stayed in Candidasa - certainly wont be the last. Kicked off this short 12 night trip with 4 nights at this hotel in a Pool View Bungalow - no 5, on May 5th, picked up by hotel car at the airport by a very nice driver. View across the pool and towards the sea was lovely. Two nice private verandahs to sit out on and relax during the day and nights. ||Bungalow room was large with a good size fridge that worked well. Room was clean and very comfortable. Large King Size bed with good linen, safe provided. Cleaning staff very efficent. All staff here were polite and helpful and appeared very happy in their roles. Lovely gardens, ponds, statues. Small well kept beach area.||There is a on- site spa which we used a couple of times for massages, very reasonably priced and also booked a day tour with the hotel driver which was excellent. The restaurant at the hotel made a very impressive breakfast.||Walking generally was quite easy and safe with a footpath on both sides of the main road. Can be a challenge at night so have your phone torch handy. We walked from hotel to lotus pond area and there is a temple across the road worth a visit. Plenty of places to eat outside the hotel and a few shops to explore. Dining Room bottle shop sells fresh milk, cheese etc plus alcohol of course and the prices there were cheaper than the other areas we stayed at in Bali. We also found the Money Changers exchange rates in Candidasa was a bit higher than other parts we stayed in.||Will return on our next trip as we really enjoyed the area and the hotel. Hopefully can sort out some pool lights to take...
